Think that might be intentional? Just to show that he is a fresh faced kid essentially. He hasn't been battle tested. Further fuels the fire which is Rey being capable of whooping his ass.
My only major complaint Spoiler How the hell fn128 or whatever his name is kept up with kylo in a light saber battle?.A regular storm trooper vs. kylo ren who is a amateur Jedi but a Jedi nonetheless? It would be much better had he toy with him the whole time and don't give me he was injured blah blah crap. A broke back tmac can still out hoop us clutchfan members
Ha. You're in deep. Like not sleeping at night playing out scenarios in your head and watching game tape mode. Let's just let you rattle off theories for 3 hours while I listen and sip scotch by a fire.
Spoiler Had to be the injury. Lame but the only explanation. That and he might have been tripping after murdering his father.
Spoiler I think Rey is Han's and Leia's daughter. It seems to follow that Kylo Ren and Rey Solo would be pitted against each other the way that Luke and His Father was pitted against one another. And the fact that Jedi's can't marry so how could she be Luke's duaghter?
Spoiler That's as good an explanation as any other I've thought of, particularly the "tripping after murdering his father" part. One of the weakest plot points, but the film is so fast moving that while I noted it at the time, ultimately I just didn't care. -
Spoiler Wouldn't u think they would recognize their daughter? LOL.....Han doesn't know who she is when he first see her. That theory that somehow EVERYONE mind is wiped about her existence is beyond stupid.
Spoiler Or....Finn is force-sensitive. We just dont know. This movie could have used another hour...lol.
My complaint: Spoiler cringeworthy script at times, but i guess it had to be done to keep the Star wars charm and feel. What i expect in the eighth episode Spoiler more jedi and dark side awakenings. This whole series cant just be rey vs kylo. Obviously theyre gonna step it up a notch. I dont expect... Spoiler Snoke to ever be in a battle. His cgi would look awful if he ever stood up from that chair. Either the big twist is that he is actually another character we have seen already or he will die before he gets up from that chair...maybe stabbed by a redeemed Kylo. It would look too cheesy and fake to have Snoke fight.
Spoiler Han may not know, because if you remember when Han and Leia spoke to one another, Han was gone a lot. It's clear, at least to me, from Leia's reaction that she knows more about Rey than she's letting on. And also, for future movies, this idea that they are brother and sister raises the stakes, as it always has in Star Wars.
I just can't get over how much I enjoyed the second viewing more than the first. It's weird. I felt troubled walking out of the Drafthouse in SW Austin Friday morning. Things were really bugging me. Bits here, bits there. I wrote it off as not being myself after 3 hours of sleep and perhaps that was it. Saw it again at the NW Drafthouse this afternoon with my kids and my significant other and walked out with that glow I expected to feel Friday. Trippy. Went to the Drafthouse for a lot of reasons, the main one being that I could reserve the seats so far in advance. As I told Crash, they do a tremendous job of putting it on. If there's one anywhere around, see it there and in 3D. Well worth the trouble. I'm just lucky that one of them is 10 minutes from my house.
dont click. is scam. its vox. Spoiler thought the movie was pretty good. the monster scene on the ship was a little cheesy and stupid. ALso wish they had killed off carrie fisher as she has had too much botox and cant move her face. she shouldn't be acting.
Yeah, it was beautifully done. The effects were spectacular - particularly the battle scenes but you are right in that it followed Episode IV a bit too much. I found myself checking off things that were also in Episode IV. It's very good but definitely not worth all of the hype and TV commercial tie-ins it's getting. But that's Disney for you. Their motto is "No Dollar Left Behind". The setup for Episode VIII was well done although I'm now wondering if that movie will be a rehash of Episode V. As for the characters, I liked newcomers Finn and Rey but found Kylo Ren rather uninteresting. He came off as sort of the Diet Coke of the Darkside (Just one calorie, not Vader enough). Oh well, at least JJ didn't totally **** up a character like he did with Spock in his ST movies. Now, I've got to see it in Real 3D.
Spoiler I wouldn't stake a lot on this aspect. As many know there was a whole expanded universe when it came to Star Wars in the form of many books that were once considered canon. That said Disney and crew came out and said that the EU would no longer be canon as far as the new movies were to be concerned. A few weeks later Disney clarified that statement by adding that they wouldn't hesitate to adapt or put their spin on any storylines, plots, or characters from the EU as they saw fit when it came to the new triliogy. So basically they created a scenario where they could use the EU but not be locked in by any of the fans expectations. Why is this important? So far the new movie is littered with little and big things from the EU that have been altered/changed to fit into this new movie. The biggest of which seems to be Kylo Ren who seems to be a combination of two EU characters in Jacen Solo and Kyp Durron. As far as Jedi and marriage are concerned when it came to the EU... Luke partially blamed the fall of the old order on the marriage ban itself. Luke would go on to reverse that decision when it came the New Jedi Order. As a result most of the new Jedi Masters had wives and children themselves. Luke himself would go on to marry a woman named Mara Jade and have a son named Ben. Incidentally Mara would later be murdered by Jacen Solo who Kylo Ren seems to be partially based on. All that taken into account and the fact that Abrams actively adapted EU material with his own spin on it.... if new director Rian Johnson does the same with the original EU marriage aspect it does create a viable scenario where Luke can have a kid in this new trilogy just as he did in the EU. At the end of the day I wouldn't be surprised if Rey turns out to be Luke's daughter and the character of Rey herself to be based on an amalgamation of two EU characters as well in Ben Skywalker and Jaina Solo (Jacen Solo's twin sister). So far the character traits of Rey line up with both those EU characters quite nicely as well.
The fact that this movie was so similar to A New Hope is exactly why I am actually ok with JJ Abrams not directing Episode 8 or 9. Abrams did a great job of kicking this new trilogy off, but hopefully Rian Johnson can make the next two movies their own.
Do we know who the guy was who Poe was meeting with at the start of the film? Why does he have the flash drive?
Was wondering that as well. And how he got that missing piece of the map was beyond me. Maybe he made a connection with Luke over the course of 30 years. Maybe his travel agent?
Spoiler Also, I gotta say, for Ren being "Weaker" in the force, he was pretty ******* powerful. Maybe not in dueling, but I don't recall previous jedi stopping laser blasts mid air or completely imobolizing people, as well as reading their minds. No force lightening though, maybe it is a trade-off. Actually come to think of it, his force powers were more "light side powers" than seemingly "dark side powers"
