Excuses, excuses, never bothered good ball handlers in the past.

Harden is an over rated passer.

There is plenty in the form of articles, breakdowns, game film and words from coaches and players out there that refutes that point entirely.

But I'll take your word for it.

I'm done here. I get the feeling you'd rather the team do terribly with what we have to prove your point, rather than see the team improve from within and make a run.

You do realise Harden made Thompson his b**** in the WCF right?

Clyde Drexler is a good example of a SG with a decent Assist to turnover ratio.

If Harden is going to play PG, or be the primary ball handler, he has to do a lot better than he is doing, now.

    Really? Whose team won?

I don't know but it wouldn't take much to do better than the Rockets this year. I doubt a team featuring Klay and Dwight could do worse than .500 against the easiest schedule in the league. You have to also factor in that Dwight would get the ball with Harden gone.

You can't be serious right?? We were within a damn whisker of winning either or both of the first two games, and we blew them out at home in game four. People like to think the Warriors had an easy time of it against us in the WCF but the reality is we could have won that series.

    Harden in WCF: 28.4 ppg, 7.8rpg, 6.4 apg. 47% fg, 43% 3p.

He completely outplayed Thompson over the course of the series. Thompson can't even do a crossover without losing the ball. His posture is way too high, he looks like a new born giraffe when he puts it on the floor, not to mention he doesn't hit the boards.

He is an elite three point shooter but outside of that he's one of the most overrated players in the league, and that includes his supposed elite defense.

Do you try to be wrong?

Klay Thompson can't hold Harden's jock.

Klay is an absolutely perfect situation, put him on a number of other teams and he is a very good/but not special player.

Whose team won? Nice logic, so I guess Harrison Barnes > LeBron James.

You can criticize Harden, he has warts but he is just about the last thing the Rockets need to worry about.

    Last year? Not even close.

    This year? Yep.

Comparing individual stats is only part of it. I also don't think team record should be considered when determining the best player at a specific position. Harden is the focal point of defenses. Klay is not.

If Klay replaced Harden, who would create offense on the team? Klay's percentage would likely dip as there is not much of a threat elsewhere on the floor. Klay would be nowhere near those nice percentages if he were to be the primary option on offense.

Harden is an underrated passer. He doesn't do it enough.

No, he isn't right. He is not a two way player, he has a reputation as a being a two way player, because the GSW are the golden boys and there are no haters out there who put out youtube videos of lowlights, just like Harden has a reputation as being a one way player.

    The stats are quite clear:

    Defensive + / - (14/15, 15/16)
    KT: -1.0 , -1.8
    JH: +1.0 , -0.8

    Def Rating (14/15, 15/16)
    KT: 104 , 105
    JH: 103, 107

Harden clearly outperforms him in defensive plus / minus in the last two years, and they are comparable in defensive rating for the past two years. So despite Klay being a "two way player" and Harden being a "one way player", statistically, it Harden had a more positive effect on the team defensive output.

The truth is Harden has some very apparent defensive lapses that get highly publicized, while Klay has some defensive lapses that do not get highly publicized, which creates a ridiculous narrative that idiots cling on too.

Good god, I seriously have no idea how you can have watched basketball for so long, yet be completely oblivious about what stats are and how they are used.

So lets start with your assertion that the stats speak for themselves. They don't. There is this little thing called context. Harden is the primary defensive focus of all opposing defenses, Klay is not. This has obvious downward pressure on Hardens stats, and upward on Klay.

Now obviously, when you delve into advanced statistics, Harden obliterates Klay, across the board. Much higher volume, manufacturing more offense across the board, better rebounder, more steals, comparable blocks, higher PER, greater offensive rating, VORP, better defensive rating, and so on and so forth.

Yes Klay is a better shooter. Thats about it.

    Oh really?

Lawson, who is currently turning the ball over 22% of his possessions would be better with Thompson. Even Jeremy Lin, the most basketball r****ded, poorest ball handler I have ever seen, laughs at Lawson's turnover rate.

Again, if you had even the most basic understanding of how statistic works, you would know that TOV% is FAR and AWAY the best measurement of how well a player takes care of the ball. Its a simple statistic, on a given possession, what % of the time is the player going to turn the ball over.

    Career TOV%:
    Lawson: 15.3%
    Harden: 14.5%

Oh look, huge shocker, another one of DD's ridiculous claims, officially myth busted.

Ah yes, straight out the LOF school of statistics, taking one stat, manipulating, and placing an over emphasis on it, trying to draw a line to a preconceived conclusions.

Harden is a facilitator and a scorer in one, unlike your traditional pass first point guards. Assist to turnover ratio is irrelevant, because he uses such a high amount of possessions to score. If you want an apples to apples comparison among players, you would rely on points produced (assists + points scored) to turnover ratio, which is a fair comparison. Of course, when you look at it objectively, your absurd premise is completely dismantled.

Your arbitrary benchmark for what is passable as a ball handler is just plain stupid, especially when used to discredit Harden.

    My god, just my god.

Once again, in classic Dakaota style, you saw something you didn't like, locked in on it, starting trying to find it every where, completely destroyed your own objectively, picked up a pitchfork, and went to work on riling up an angry mob LIKE YOU DO EVERY ****ING YEAR.

I don't disagree with the rest of your post, but this is bs.

Harden is a terrible defender and klay is a good one.

The stats you cherry picked just aren't good for measuring defense.

As Morey said, there really isn't a good public stat for measuring defense.

But it's safe to say that Harden is pretty terrible at defense

You're better than this DD. You are well aware how dumb this line of thinking is and how much context it lacks.

If you can't see that Harden is a terrible defender who has taken a big step back on offense, then you're a HOF.

And I don't mean Hall of Fame.

Right.... So despite all the evidence just given, because you say it, it is so?

DD reasoning at its best there

If you are the TWolves GM, and the Warriors offer Klay straight up for Wiggins, what do you say?

    1) His defense is bad. No doubt about it.

    2) Don't think he's taken a big step back offensively. Not having the absurd season he had a year ago, but still undoubtably one of the best offensive players in the league.

The reason is in the stats that have been presented many times
