It's too bad that they shelved him for the year. He would have gotten plenty of playing time here lately. We'd know what we have.

Hate the situation Yates is in,. . Acl sucks. Daughter had one last year playing soccer and it's such a long recovery . Those things suck
So..if the Texans split 1 of the next 2..go 8-8 and Colts win the next 2 and go 8-8..it goes to head-to-head tiebreak which we split..and then division wins..which would be 4-2 for both teams..and then conference wins which would be 6-6 for both teams...what is the next tiebreak? strength of schedule?
Strength of victory. It appears the Texans will have that advantage over the Colts. Texans and Colts have beaten these teams Bucs Jags x1 Titans x1 Other than those teams, Texans have beaten Bengals (10-3) Jets (9-5) Saints (5-8) Colts (8-8) Total Losses: 24 Colts have beaten Broncos (10-3) Falcons (6-8) Still must play the Dolphins (5-9)...since they play each other and I'm assuming Colts win it Texans (8-8) Total Losses: 28 Based on those records, it appears as though the teams the Texans have beaten are going to be stronger than the teams the Colts would have beaten. As of right now, the Texans have a 4 loss advantage of the Colts in terms of strength of victory. This is a fluid situation and it really depends on what happens the rest of the way though. Right now the Texans appear to be in better shape.
According to ESPN's NFL Playoff machine, even if the Texans lose one of their final 2, they still have the edge over the Colts even if they win both of their final 2 games. In other words, the only way the Texans don't take the division is if they lose their final 2 games and the Colts win their final 2 games.

It's not that clear-cut, we still want to root for the Bengals, Jets, and Saints while rooting against the Broncos, Dolphins, and Falcons.
just enough? compared to his previous performances, this was like having 500 yards and 5tds. any word on hoyer's return?
This is almost correct. If the Texans lose their next two and the Colts lose to the Dolphins next week but beat the Titans in the final week they win the division based on division winning percentage. There is no way, however, based on the remaining matchups, the Colts can overtake the Texans based on Strength of Victory. If the Texans win EITHER of their next two games, they clinch the division... regardless of what happens with anyone else.
I had the Colts winning their final two and us losing to the Jags (just messing around). In that scenario, the Colts make it. Basically, everything I see, it seems as long as we beat Jacksonville, we make it. Even if we lose to Tennessee.
It's not really fluid. If the Texans win one more game, they are guaranteed to win the division. Nothing else can happen that would change that.
Wrong. It would take a bunch of upsets in the next two weeks but the Strength of Victory tiebreaker could technically flip in their favor.
Best case scenario for the Texans if we make the playoffs. Byes: 1. New England 2. Cincinnati AFC Wild Card Round: 3. Denver 4. Houston vs vs 6. Pittsburgh 5. Kansas City In this scenario if we beat KC and Pitt beats Denver we go on to play Cincy and Pitt plays NE.
