Liked it, didn't love it....give it 7/10 - very formulaic in regards to story.

    Big Star Wars fan here.

I think the movie was good but not great. It followed the storyline of A New Hope a bit too much. Me and many fans I know felt a bit underwhelmed after the movie was done. It's definitely intriguing and sparks interest for the next 2 upcoming sequels.

he likes to crap on successful movies, like the NWA movie.

He went on that thread and started talking about the 2 Live Crew.

He should be punished for hating on NWA.

    And he hates Texas BBQ.

    Get a rope

I think he gets his only happiness trying to make other people as unhappy as he must always be.

It felt a bit like a 2 hour special leading into a season of a TV series. This is why it felt a little off with so many characters being introduced.

I just got through seeing the flick for the second time and loved it! Enjoyed the film a lot more than the "Friday morning seeing it by myself at 9am while half asleep because I was up until 3" version. Noticed a lot more of the detail, and there's a lot of detail easily missed. JJ did a brilliant job and you can tell that he's more invested in Star Wars than he was/is in Star Trek. It's not even close, in my humble opinion. Much closer to the feel of the first two films than the last 4 that Lucas was involved with, thank goodness. A lot of physical sets were used, with a much more judicious use of CGI, and it makes a difference. A great script. The girl is tremendous. Finn is excellent. Hope to see more of Oscar Isaac, who was so good in Ex Machina. Domhnall Gleeson was very good in an unusual role for him. A terrific setup for the second and third films. Can't wait for them to come out!

My son is out of town but once he gets back I'm going to see it a second time with him. It's great to have this story back on the big screen the way it was meant to be seen. There are rumors that there could be an Obi Wan movie with Ewan McGregor sometimes in the coming years.

Did you catch Ewan McGregor, Frank Oz and Alec Guiness voices in the flash back scene? I completely missed them but will be listening intently when I watch it again. Apparently McGregor says something like, "Rey your journey starts now." I read that someone from Bad Robot took Alec Guiness saying "afraid" and chopped it down to "Rey".

No, I completely missed that! Thanks for the heads-up, Crash. I look for that when I see it again. Well worth the 3D, if you haven't seen it that way. We saw it at the Alamo Drafthouse here in Austin, who do a great job presenting the film, with some hilarious amateur videos made over the years preceeding the showing, so if you're able to go there, go half an hour early. :)-

I feel similar. Abrams need to venutre out more from his source material.

I also didn't care how we went from the Empire looking done at the end of Return of the Jedi to it still being the dominant force, just reorganized as the First Order. I, IV, & VII all focus on an orphan from a desert planet with strong ties to the Force, who happen to be talented pilots.

I do look forward to the next movie in hopes of additional explanations. Rey's family obviously being the big one. And why a laser gun would be shaped like a crossbow. WTF is with that?

I'm so glad they killed off Han. He looked so old and was very stiff in his movements. It also makes me happy because I don't want the old cast to be important

Alright me and my brother went and seen the film. And I have to say that it was way better than I expected it to be.

I do think the plot was too much like the original Star Wars, there was very little in the film that was original. BUT I love the character development of Rey and Kylo Ren. JJ ABRAMS does know how to treat reboots.

So, I approve of this movie. It is pretty great. I am glad I saw it. Did I just go over to the dark side?

There is actually a technological explanation for the bowcaster involving the orbs and magnetism. It's sci-fi. =). Let your imagination flow

    complaints:

Snook looks to much like Golum

Kylo Ren looks like a member of the Strokes not a Sith lord, should have had someone look more menacing or not have him take off the mask

    Carrie Fisher didn't look right

They should have had two energy beams come from the orbs and fire forward. Then it wouldn't bother me.

I guess I need to check out these to understand how we got here from ROTJ:
