Saw the movie yesterday. What a great movie. For those that say it's kind of like the first 3 movies wrapped up into one, I totally get that but there is one very huge differences

In the movie the son (Luke) was able to save his dad (Vader) and intern his dad saved him. In this movie it was the exact opposite, the father (Han) tried to save the son (Kylo) but failed and in turn died himself. I thought that turn of events were huge.

I also think there are issues to be considered about the prequels that aren't being talked about.

Kylo Ren is played exactly how I think Lucas tried to portray a young Aniken Skywalker. Kylo's temper tantrums where he destroys things with his light saber while two storm trooper guards walk up on him and then quietly tip toe back the other way was just awesome.

Also, in the prequels it was implied that Anikan was bourn as a result of a union between miticlorians and his mother. His mother told Qui Gon Jinn that there was no father which implied immaculate conception of a sort. When Qui Gon tested Anikan he said that Anikan had a higher concentration of miticlorians that Yoda. As a result there is little arguing that neither Luke nor Kylo Ren have as much natural power as Anikan had.

After Rey got into Kylo Ren's head she told him his greatest fear was that he would never be as powerful as Darth Vader. I think this is an indirect reference to the fact that Anikan was a product of the miticlorians while Kylo Ren is a product of Lea and Han.

I'm probably thinking way to much into this but it makes since in my head.

Interaction between Rey and Kylo and her possible relationship to Luke:

Some people have posted about Rey holding her own against Kylo but lets be honest, Rey kicked his ass. The only thing that saved Kylo was the planet breaking up. Kylo was on his back with no weapon, mortally wounded and Rey was about to finish his story much like Obi Won finished Darth Maul at the end of Phantom Menace.

Obi Won witnesses Darth Maul kill Qui Gon Jin and who was like a father to him and kills Darth Maul in return. Rey witnesses Kylo kill Han who she viewed as a father figure and in turn defeated Kylo and was about to off his ass when the planet broke apart and saved him.

I think its very clear that Rey is naturally more powerful than Kylo. Kylo does not have the same concentration of miticloreans IMO as stated in the spoiler above. I think there is a very good chance that Rey has a significantly higher concentration of miticloreans than Kylo. We know from the prequels that the miticlorians can guide you which is why Anikan was such a good pilot at such a young age.

Rey has a lot of Anikan's natural ability. She has the ability to fix things like Anikan. She is a natural pilot like Anikan and she clearly has natural ability with a light saber like Anikan. All of this suggests a much higher concentration of miticloreans than Kylo.

Like some, I think Rey is Lukes daughter. Maz made the comment to Rey that the light saber was Lukes fathers before it was Lukes and now it calls for her. When she touched the Light Saber she had a vision of Luke on the planet doing something with R2 D2. I think most of us believe this to be a memory of the First Order massacring the young Jedi's that Luke was training. The memory also showed Rey crying as a little girl as a ship was leaving the planet and she was left with someone.

I believe that vision or memory recall that Rey had was full of massive clues. I absolutely think Rey was one of the young Jedi being trained which is another reason she was able to call on the force so easily when she needed it.

I also think there is a possibility that Luke had a wife or a life partner who was also a Jedi in training. Remember, Luke did not receive the same indoctrination as Jedi in Anikans time of training. Luke didn't even start training until he was about 20 when most Jedi had been identified as a very very young child. Remember the Jedi council thought Anikan was too old to start the training and I don't think he was even 10 at the time. Also remember that at one point in time Luke was very happy to receive the attention of Lea prior to realizing she was his sister.

So I think it's very possible that Rey is the offspring of Luke and another Jedi in training. This would further explain why Rey has more natural power than Kylo Ren.

Luke, Snoke and why Luke is in hiding or self imposed exile:

With the death of Palpatine and Darth Vader in ROTJ that should have left Luke as the undeniable strongest Jedi and user of the force in the galaxy. So how was anyone able to invade and destroy his attempts to train young jedi. Whats more is why hasn't Luke stood up to Snoke and been apart of the effort against the First Order?

Snoke very well could be Darth Plagueis the Wise. It actually makes sense if you think about it. Plagueis would definitely be stronger with the force than Luke and would certainly give Luke reason to go into self exile until the right moment to reassert himself into the fight. That moment would be once he has an ally and the only ally would be his daughter Rey.

It would also explain why he would leave Rey on Jakku. He knew that Snoke (Plagueis) would be hunting him down. By keeping Rey with him he would risk being found before she could become powerful enough to defend herself from a Sith Lord. In one stroke Snoke would be able to get rid of any possible resistance to his rule of the Galaxy.

Luke is also bound to be grieving. Not just from the resurgence of the Dark Side but due to the loss of all the young Jedi students and his wife at the hands of the Dark Side. Most Jedi never faced the same type of loss that Luke had faced. Most Jedi of the past were taken from their families at such a young age, there were no lasting family type of relationships. Luke obviously had those family type relationships that other Jedi typically did not.

Luke lived through the murder of his family on Tatooine. His father died in his arms after saving his life. Add losing his wife & daughter and he is probably not be in a good place. It was those same feelings for family that turned Anikan into Darth Vader. Add the fact that if Rey is Luke's daughter then he felt he was backed into a corner and had to abandon her just to keep her alive. Luke must be in a lot of personal pain and facing a lot of personal demons. Remember he never had the type of Jedi training that other Jedi received.

R2 D2 could not have been on low power mode all of these years by coincidence. Luke communicated something to R2 D2 in Rey's vision. R2 D2 was following Luke's instructions and waiting for the right moment to wake up. Luke certainly felt Rey's awakening as well as Han's death at the hands of Kylo Ren as well as the destruction of the planet. Luke may have somehow instructed R2 D2 to wake up and share the remainder of the map to the Lea and the resistance.

Luke must have decided that it's time to be found and re-incage into the fight against Snoke. My guess is that Luke was expecting Rey to show up on the island with R2 D2 and even planned it that way.

    Great movie.

Glad they cut out the Han Solo sex scene.

Seeing a drunken Han Solo drop trou and rape a screaming ewok in no way advances the story line.

Good thing the studio had final veto control because it really would have ruined the movie.

    I am 50.

You do not speak for me.

You are just sour, and it sours your perspective.

Besides, no one needs your permission to enjoy this movie.

When Star Wars came out, I was twelve - I was the perfect age for it, and it has colored parts of my life since then, including a deep and long-lasting affection for the first two films, which Lucas seemed dead-set on destroying for most of the years since ESB.

I have been waiting 30 years for TFA, and while I do have a few extremely minor nit-picks, it was overall EXACTLY what we needed and wanted: a restoration of our faith in this franchise, that the people in charge now UNDERSTAND us. - which George Lucas NEVER did.

No but the prequels stole my money. Lucas made 2 great star wars movie, one mediocre one and 3 terrible ones.

Sorry if this international trailer has been posted already, but I couldn't find it and it's new within this week, I think.

1 good 1 great one mediocre and three bad prequels. Without Empire, star wars would have very little credibility.

She also put him in the friend zone.

Before Rey leaves to find Luke, she tells Finn in the hospital, "Im sure we'll see each other again. Goodbye my friend." Plus I had read Poe will be her love interest in the sequels.

Whats with the hostility? Sheesh

Its a freeking movie that is enjoyed for it's entertainment value. If you and what don't like it then don't watch it. No need to poo poo all over Nero for enjoying it. Good grief. Most of us enjoyed it. None of us put a gun to anyone else's head and forced them to watch it.

Not hostile, just pointing out how sour Nero is while he is calling other people sour. I liked the movie a great deal and I don't even really like star wars.
