Congrats to your dad for battling this disease. I too have nothing but the most compassion and support for Lawson if that's the reason he goes through this. In the end he has earned more money so far in his carreer than all of us can't even imagine and will be enough to live a happy and fullfilling life away from the poison. I just don't understand how a recovering alcoholic goes out to clubs. I dont' have any personal experience but from what I know it's prohibited/strongly discouraged to go out to bars and clubs where alcohol is served esp in the first steps of the recovery because the temptation is immense. And we already saw Lawson out partying at night.
Agreed. I currently have a family member recovering from alcoholism. Same thing. She'll never have a lot of things she had when she was drinking. She's very limited now. But it's better than the certain death she was facing with the lifestyle and people she was involved with who were sucking the life out of her.
My dad is a recovering alcoholic as well. He had to get a liver transplant back in 2001, but he's still holding on strong and healthy to this day! It's miraculous and I'm truly grateful for modern medicine. We're all here for you, Lawson
I don't think lawson is on the block. I think lawson already said rockeys ate gonna trade him. Because really who take Lawson's contract and why. Unless it's a multi player trade I see no reason to trade or release lawson
Oh you don't think so? Thank goodness. I was starting to believe the multiple reports from NBA Insiders.
Reports are Lawson's camp is pushing for a trade. If so get his azz outta here. I want it to work but his body language indicates he doesn't want to be here.
Yeah those same reliae reports that said he was being traded a while ago that were shut down. Just based in Lawson's social media post and and wjo and the hell would take lawson bad play and contract. Wete better pff keeping him I mean cmon bro people were saying howard would be traded you gonna beleive everything
First, great post and thanks for sharing. I'm glad your father has become a better man. I know how hard it is. Don't give up hope that he (or Ty) will find his swagger again. Your dad hasn't, Ty hasn't, and I haven't, but there are so many more that have. And Ty is young. He can eventually overcome this if he works at it and has a good support system. I can't imagine the pressure of having to perform for the cameras, for the whole world, while trying to find my footing as a sober person. That's why I say I feel for him. Some things are indeed bigger than basketball and I agree this is definitely one of those. Repped.
This is so right on. I'd meant to make these points in my own post. I've been agreeing with you lately more than I ever imagined I would and I've only been seeing your posts when they're quoted. I guess it's time to take you off my ignore list. I think I can live with the multitude of irrationally passionate anti-Jones posts in order to get to the good stuff. It has become clear to me that you do indeed post good stuff.
This is true with any addiction be it booze, pain pills etc. once you clean up those first few months or year or two can be tough. You have to find your identity again because the identity you held on to is gone. This very well could be Lawson. Letting go of your escape can be traumatic.
He apologized again for his behaviour, but he should be apologize for his pathetic basketball play. If you can party at night and you can't perform at your job, you know what happens to us regular folks?? You know what happens to regular folks who drink and drive?? This guy still hasn't learned his lesson, very sad..

OK, let's assume the Batman/basketballholic diagnosis is correct. A few questions: 1) Do you think Denver made this diagnosis prior to trading Lawson? Did they believe they were dumping a player who, if he stayed off the sauce, would be unable to play at anywhere close to his prior level, at least for a year or two? Which in turn would explain the fire sale? 2) Did the Rockets adequately consider and factor in this possibility? We must have consulted John Lucas, right? And he would have laid out this scenario, among others? 3) When Morey got Lawson to make year #2 a Rockets option, do you think that was Morey's way of factoring in this risk (among others)? Or was it only in case Lawson went back to booze or got another DUI? Bottom line: Did Morey knowingly face this risk, and is the team option we now hold an insurance policy he took out, in part, for this situation? Or was the team option only for an alcoholic relapse, and Morey didn't understand or take account of the scenario we're now facing?
I seriously doubt a big-time agent like Happy Walters would allow his ex-partner who he just split from engage his clients. Happy was the CEO and left with his client list. I would think that this goes for hollywood agents too. It's cutthroat business. You aren't letting Fegan have the hear of your clients if you can stop it. Yet again another conspiracy theory by basketballholic to say Fegan is speaking for Lawson, especially since he's using Sheridan's words as confirmation. And this one is weird. What difference does it make to any discussion of Lawson on the trading block which agent is seeking trades? It only makes since to make a big deal about it if you have some big conspiracy to propagate that relies on this all being tied to Dwight Howard some how. Why does bbholic have to cling to conspiracy theories so hard like that when it doesn't have to even be a discussion. The same discussion could include Happy Walter and his big client list, too. It doesn't have to be about Dwight and Fegan, when it could still work regarding Brewer's contract and Happy doing Morey a solid with dropping the 2nd guaranteed year of Lawson. btw: please show me a quote from Fegan speaking on behalf of Ty Lawson.
Show me this quote from Sheridan. Are you saying Sheridan revealed his source regarding Dwight being unhappy? I really want to see this quote where Sheridan reveals his source.
I heard a rumor that Fegan doesn't represent Howard anymore. Don't know how to verify that... Your point is still likely true either way
According to the Denver GM Lawson had displayed for some time signs of alcoholism. The DUIs were only the insult to injury, since he was coming to practices smelling of alcohol and cancelling shootarounds. Now Lawson got his DUI in July. So for a fact until then he was actively drinking. Only one week later he was traded. He was ordered to enter a rehab (which he didn't think he should have been because according to him he didn't have a problem). A person any person, who comes OUT of rehab and declares that he shouldn't have entered it because he doesn't have a problem at this time, they aren't commited to change. So by this logic 1) Denver had no way to know if Lawson will stop drinking even after the rehab. They wanted to trade him even before he was ON the sauce. The fire sale was because noone was interested. In the start of last November they were by July and 2 DUIs later only Houston was interested. 2) Well I believe in this organisation to have the basic knowledge to consult with an addiction expert. 3) It was a way to factor any risk. Whether he continue drink and get to jail or stop drinking and hsi perfomance fall off a cliff , or if he performs well for one year but by the draft the rockets find a good deal and trade him. There is NO way to be sure that Lawson has STOPED drinking. He went to a club just some weeks ago.
I agree. Agents can manipulate the media just like GMs can. They can float to the media lies and half-truths to gain a negotiating edge. That's good enough speculation for me. But I thought maybe bballholic was saying Sheridan actually mentioned Fegan. That would be juicy, if true. The bottomline here is tying this to Howard, though. Did Howard actually tell anyone he was "extremely unhappy with his role" whereby Sheridan says it actually comes from multiple sources, and not just one. I don't think so. So, using Howard and Fegan as an anecdote regarding Lawson and his agents is based on the agent/Fegan lying to Sheridan, at best...or Sheridan completely fabricating it. I don't see how Howard's stuff is relevant to Lawson, unless you just enjoy spinning wild theories that tie everything together neatly, like people do who speculate about their TV Shows. Agents lying or spinning truths is not true with Lawson. Morey and the agents seem to be in a mutually beneficial, open and honest discussion. Only question I see is did Morey want this made public?
