Morey really screwed up with giving up Scola and Josh for KJ McDaniels.

 

Look at Scola and Lowry. Those are the true competitors Morey should've never let go of.

Lowry trade directly led to the acquisition of Harden. Correct move, you make it 100 times out of 100.

Scola was amnestied to allow cap room for a potential D12 trade, but instead was used to sign Asik and Lin. Asik was traded for Ariza and Dekker, Lin ended up costing a pick. Adding Ariza was a key piece which got us to the WCF last year.

Revisionist history at its finest.

 

Also seeing as Lawson has struggled, are we sure Lowry would be some magic revelation playing 2nd fiddle to Harden? Sure he's a better defender than Ty. He's a better spot up shooter. But the things that make Lowry a revelation in Toronto... Are sure it would translate in Houston or he'd also struggle in his respected skills.

All I'll say is there is a good reason Pat Beverley keeps on resurfacing as a running partner to Harden.

And then there is the Scola situation. Anyone with half an NBA brain should know that he was amnestied to make room that directly led to the Rockets being able to absorb contracts in the Harden deal and you CANNOT re aquire a player you amnestied when they are still under their current contract terms.

I do however think that Morey will start to look for more Scola-type veteran players to help stabilize the locker room variables moving forward.

 

Why not Harden and Thornton together? At least you'd have some offense to offset the lack of defense.

 

Defense way more important than offense at this point. Our offense was pretty much the same last year.

I guess that's more coaching than personnel though.
