Ok, I really don't think Morey knows what to do anymore. The guy put together on paper before the season a top 3 team. So , now this team has under achieved greatly and changes need to happe. My question is what realistic changes can be done to fix this team? What player can come and really change this team? Bc if Rockets make a trade it's not for a elite star.
    Your thoughts as being GM.

The easiest way to salvage this season is do Lawson for Jack + Bogdanovic and Jones + Brewer for Kieff.

You purge yourself of the three worst players on the team and get back contributors.

    Bev/Jack
    Harden/Bogdanovic
    Ariza/Kieff
    D-Mo/Kieff
    Dwight/Capela

Rockets still won't be contenders but they will make the Playoffs for sure.

Easy. Hire a coach and run a regular offense.

Have Lawson run the point, have Harden run around screens and STILL take majority of the shots. And some plays to feed the bigs in the post or on pick and rolls.

Something tells me you can't make those two trades, but Morey has pulled off some things that have surprised me before. If he does, I'll go back to calling him Maury.

That could work. IF, you do it. Les, make it happen. Your GM said JB has the team for the rest of the season, but you didn't say you wouldn't hire a GM that happens to be a coach.

Just get a coach in that calls actual plays... Run "backcut" plays in practice at nausea...

So who's making the decision to let Harden do what he wants? Bc my thinking like everyone's before season is let Lawson be point etc but that hasn't happen at all.

They do call plays. It's obvious that they run different plays just from watching, but the past couple games I specifically remember reading lips and hand signals and saw Harden call "floppy" and I saw Lawson standing behind the free throw shooter say "fist up 2".

Floppy sets are easy to see during games. Just look for everyone jumbled up underneath the basket with the ball up top:

"Fist Up 2" is a hand-off play that gets Harden the ball going to his strong side in attack mode:

As a GM I would talk to my players individualy ASAP and see what's going on. Why is this team so disgruntled and what needs to be done.

Easy indeed but thats like telling a lunatic to stop being being a lunatic. Morey lives in another world. Hes not a well rounded person, probably doesnt even go to church.

Action speak louder than words. We are not putting enough work ethic in practice.

What can i get for Harden? I know many would consider it a cardinal sin to trade a young superstar (and prior to this year i would have agreed) but i think he's fools gold bringing everyone down... I'd dish him for the best player I could get and hopefully some draft picks... Lowry would be nice... Gotta let it be known that NO ONE is bigger than the team...

Get a real coach... sorry JB but we need someone who commands respect...

    Brewer can go...

TJones I would not be re-signing... so prob move him if i can get something decent in return...

Otherwise, none of the remaining squad is a must move.. TY is unproductive - but he may be negative value... Dekker can be a throw in...

I'd consider moving Dwight... but I wouldnt want to seen as snubbing a top free agent acquisition... and if i move James and D12 I gotta think way too many bodies would be coming back...

Do what I can to improve the team try to swing a trade for Kief, Jack and Bojan as they may be the most obtainable. Would defiantly try to land Anderson though.

Hire a coach who will demand the best from his players and bench them when they don't perform well or have zero effort ( James, Dwight )

Ditch this whole 3 point philosophy BS and work from the inside out posting up DMo and Kief to get the shooters open shots.

Deman Harden and Howard run the PNR and run it correctly. If they don't want to bench them.

Free Ty Lawson, let him run the show for 10 games good or bad, see what happens with Harden off the ball.

The Mavs did their best to get Rondo going, let's do our best with Ty.

You're kidding right? We had a piss weak bench. Maybe the starting 5 was top 3, but overall including bench, not even close.

1: Everyone is expendable bar Harden, Ariza, DMO, Capella and I'd even say Bev (but not as starting PG)
2: Demand more PnR with Harden/Howard. If it's a case of Howard not wanting to, then he can go.
3: New coach. As has been said, who commands respect and gets the best out of players and who runs plays. (Ditch 3 point philosophy)

Don't agree getting rid of Harden as being an option. But someone needs to get through to him (like Thibbs/Coach K did at the Team USA last year).
