Horford is much more consistent than Howard which is a good thing. Won't peak as high, Scott and Mack, make it expiring contracts across the board. Horford is actually a PF, and has complained about being a C his whole career. Slight chance, a move to his true position helps him improve a bit. It will slightly balance the Roster: Beverley / Lawson / Terry Harden / Thornton Ariza / Brewer Horford / Motiejunas / Jones Capella / Motiejunas / Jones Hard to tell what Morey's plan this offseason would be. Go after Durant I guess, or maybe Conley. If you can snag Conley and resign Horford, you have extended your window a few years which is better than what we are looking at right now.
The idea would be to not take the options on Scott and Mack, not trade for Morris because that's stupid, flip Brewer and Jones for whatever, not pick up Lawson's deal and then make a run at someone like Durant in the off-season.
FWIW....Golden State's strength and conditioning /rehab duo left over the summer to work for Atlanta. I would be very interested in seeing what they could do with Dwight, although any improvement wouldn't be overnight, it would be something to keep an eye on.
That just ends up being semantics. Your big rotation would end up being Horford, Capela and DMo, with limited contributions from Mike Scott. BTW, I really like Mike Scott on the offensive end.
No he can't fit because he can't pass. If you can't pass and play read and react in Bud's team you dont' play. And Dwight can't pass well no matter who is the 4 next to him. It will require the whole system to change. Not to mention that Dwight can't shoot. If this happens I will be happy but I don't believe it AT ALL right now. Noone has reported it apart from that one guy, it doesn't make any sense for Atlanta and Horford hasn't even requested any trade. Plus they could get better for him.
This is spot on....I'm not talking about giving him the ball 10ft from the basket and asking him to create a shot.....it's the multiple times throughout the game where he traps his man under the basket and they miss him, don't see him or just plain late getting him the ball. It's the most inbred basketball i've seen in a long time. We are playing lazy, lost and dumb.....Dwight is not our issue; that's why I wouldn't be surprised if his upset, but I doubt he's voiced his opinion to anyone Sheridan knows.
I think it's relevant. Do you want to throw DMo at bigger centers, coming off of back surgery? Although I'd rather start Dmo in theory, that may not be a good option. Having him play any center, may not be an option, really.
He doesn't have to ask for trade when his contract expires in about 6 months. Gone as in we are losing, we are not using him properly, and we won't pay him max money because it's too much. So goodbye. Try and get the most you can from him. Horford is an unbelievable deal for him back. Unrealstic and doesn't make sense, but unbelievable. And if you worry so much about centers dont' worry we can find one. We can trade for Rolo or sign Amir Johnson and besides Horford has been playing C most of the time in ATL. He didn't like it but he did. Centers of mediocre quality is not hard to find anymore the league is full of them. As I said I dont' buy this rumour at all and I think it's BS. UNLESS Horford has gone to his coach and made abudantly clear that he is leaving no matter what. Even then they can do better than Dwight as a return for him but whatever. Donkeys are nice animals
Probably, but who cares? They'd be declining his option anyway, he'd basically be an expiring contract.

You adjust your system to your personnel. The Rockets would've done that with LMA, and if this trade happened, they'd do it with Horford. As an example, do you remember that almost unstoppable 4/5 PnR we had going with JSmoove and Dwight last year? Guarantee that would make an appearance with Millsap/Dwight. Millsap has quietly become the best PF in the east, and I'm not kidding either: 18 points - #1 east PFs 9.3 rebounds - #2 3.5 assists - #1 1.8 steals - #1 1 block - #4 and he's a good defender. What Atlanta lacks is elite defenders. They don't have a wing that can control Lebron, so adding an elite paint protector does make sense. It's really not an unreasonable trade. Atlanta isn't going to beat Cleveland as constructed.
And honestly, we don't know what Dwight's value around the league is. Even with the Rockets being horrible on defense, Dwight is still testing out as a difference maker on that end, and likely much better than Horford. So far this season, Altanta has had an average offense and an average defense. You want to take another step? be an elite defensive team.
