I'm usually with you but not on this one. No way they will break up their team for Dwight. Lebron does not want Howard on his team. If we do trade with them I see us getting screwed in the trade.
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=p5u7cf7 I feel this is what rebuilds our squad on the fly and makes us have a better defense. Lets do it. @dmorey and hinkie i know yall want cap space
Why would they have to break up their team for Dwight? I'm not saying they'll show an active interest (maybe yes, maybe no, it's all speculation), but they certainly have the contracts. IF they understand you have to give to get. Of course, when we ask for Kevin Love, and they counter with Tristan Thompson (although his rebounding would be nice; still, that contract), who's hanging up the phone first?
What about Kendrick Perkins as a locker room presence? No doubt he would speak his mind and influence the team. I had heard he doesn't care for the Houston Rockets before in some thread discussing him being from Beaumont (I believe?) but as I see discipline on defense being the biggest issue here I think adding him would be pretty decent for the team, or at least a step in the right place. He's currently in New Orleans so maybe as part of an Anderson trade package. Sadly I cannot find a good trade on trade machine to make it work. Perkins' personality is like the anti-Dwight lol
They will not give us Love for Dwight. And I never said it wasn't possible I just said that we would end up getting screwed.
They will not trade any of the big 3 is what I meant. So anything else they give us for Dwight we are getting screwed.
lol at Dwight bringing back Kevin Love. Now that's delusional. He may bring back Varejao+ Tristan Thompson. Horrible and useless trade. Rather let Dwight expire and leave for free than get saddled with TT's contract.
Impossible for them to absorb Brewer without moving guys like Gasol or Rose which Isnt happening. Could ask for a pick, or a Porter for Harrell swap. McDermott is looking nice this year on offense, Mirotic upped his 3 pt % and 3 pointer made per game, as well as rebounding. Both would be nice additions, add Portis or a pick and I think that would be a really nice deal if that's the route we want to take, but I'd honestly be fine with those 2 and a couple of 2nds to go with Gibson or a Noah rental
I didn't write we were going to get him. I wrote, "Who hangs up the phone first?" The best they could offer (depending on BYC, don't know if this applies) would be Tristan Thompson. But that's a big contract and Morey looks for value deals. Yeah, we could effectively cross Cleveland off the list.
They don't need to absorb him immediate they can be the ones who pay the price of his dumping to Philly or Portland. Which WILL take assets. 16 millions dumping last year cost at least 2 second round picks. (this year it will be cheaper). The problem with GarPax is they dont' do trades except on draft day. Becuase they always overvalue their own players. So maybe change McDermott to Portis because McDermott cost them 2 first rounders and it will be problematic for them since they have invested so much. (Portis can easily get traded if we want later on for let's say Shabbaz Muhammad). Yes. Let's cross them off the list.
Thanks Malakas. I both like and hate your proposals because you tend to be a little less homerish than me. RE: Chicago - Unfortunately, "old and "can leave for nothing" kind of describes Dwight a well. When the timid Chicago FO puts pencil to paper and starts thinking about the cost of Dwight vs what they have now, I'm not sure they will want to give much if anything to Houston. Washington - Actually, the Wizards have so many expirings that adding Dwight would not impede their ability to get Durant. See below: Likely 2016 Cap Commitments/Holds $15.8 - Wall $11.4 - Beal hold $5.9 - Porter $4.6 - Humphries $0.8 - Webster (stretch provision hold) Just $38.5 total (I've excluded Gortat and Oubre because I show them going out) So if Dwight signs for something like 4 years $90 million (which seems high to me), that still leaves them with plenty of room to sign Durant, and they can easily jettison Hump.
I see Charlotte as a dark horse if Dwight were to be traded (I doubt it). I think MJ is an impatient owner and with the unexpected success so far he could possibly go all-in this season. Dwight (maybe add Thornton) for Jefferson, MKG, and a pick Jefferson's role has decreased offensively so Dwight should add defense w/o sacrificing offense. For the rockets, they do not completely punt on the playoffs and they add a running mate next to Harden for the future.
People on the Hawks forum were (shockingly) discussing a Horford for Dwight deal, and I'd sign up for that ASAP. He's an upcoming FA as well, and they seem apprehensive about keeping him. Here is some quick NBA trade machine fun: HOU: T.Gibson, Hinrich CHI: Lawson, HOU 2nd - HOU: Horford, Deng ATL: Dwight, T.Jones, Dekker, MIA 2nd MIA: Splitter - HOU: Mayo MIL: Brewer, HOU 2nd Horford/Capela Gibson/Motiejunas/Harrell Ariza/Deng/McDaniels Harden/Thornton/Terry Beverley/Mayo/Hinrich Mayo isn't really a PG, but he's starting there for MIL right now, and would work well (in theory) with Harden. He's also improved into a solid defender.
Atlanta is also having a disappointing season. Better than the Rockets at 14-12, but shockingly in the East out of the playoffs. Horford is having a slightly down year. He also doesn't really provide the same interior defensive presence that someone like Howard could. If you were thinking that Howard lets Millsap play more aggressively offensively, and is more the true center that could dominate next to Millsap in the East, it's not a crazy thought. I've ALWAYS thought Horford is a PF. If Duncan is, if LMA is, then Horford is. Tiago Splitter has been a bit of a bust of a signing for them. Keep it simple: Dwight, Jones, pick for Horford, Splitter
http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine Just for fun trade. Who knows could happen 99.99 percent it wont happen.
It's not from lack of confidence in attracting/keeping free agents. It's from overvaluing their own players that they don't do trades. It's been well known around the league that GarPax simply LOVE all their players and think they are better than they are and in so called trade talks they ask unrealstic returns. However, they did go after Carmelo and after Pau and they are confident in their market size. A trade of Ariza and Dwight will solve all their problems. The value back is as much for Ariza as is for Dwight btw. This will be the final incentive, a big trade that will make them almost same contenders as Cleveland. And they will have to overpay for it to happen. They have the Rose problem and they can't afford to wait a lot longer either. Their players/core is not the Baby Bulls anymore. It's the mainly old, broken by Thibs Bulls that are on their last tries to beat Lebron. This is a good pressure for any FO even them, to go on and make trades. Yes I agree, but the problem is that Big Al as you said was marginalised and where it lead them? To play fast keep their defence at top 10 while also making their offence top10 and be top seed in the East right now. And all because they went away from using a slow big center. They simply don't need Dwight. Team that is winning now like them with a new style would be stupid, to change the winning recipe. But it could happen, because I won't understimate the stupidity of a hands on owner. However they dont' have good assets. Their first will be very low. Don't see any good young players they have to trade. What makes you think that Milwaukee will be willing to absorb Brewer's contract with only a bad/mid second? They have too many wings as it is, and they are all better than Brew. Mayo is a starter and will remain so because he can shoot and playmake. Also the Hawks fans are stupid if they talked about this trade. Dwight doesn't fit with their coach system and will never be able to play it. And Bud is the GM over there. He may do stupid decisions (THJ draft day trade) but above all he has the system and in his system the bigs must be able to at least pass well.
