If he means, "all time" then Skip is way ahead of the curve on summarizing Dwight career when he's still got years ahead of him(and I want to point out he took a really crappy Magic team to the Finals).

Agree about the athleticism being gone and thus his effectiveness, but I heard that hot take about Dwight literally his 2nd year in the NBA when people were complaining that he didn't have enough skill/touch to have a long career. I mean, everyone saw this coming - I'm not even sure anyone cares enough about Dwight to care about Skip's "take".

I think Dwight's main issue is his physicality & mental stability. First, the league has changed and refs penalize guys like Dwight for using his strength. He can't even touch guys without getting called for a offensive foul. It's gotta be frustrating for Dwight when guys literally clobber you every night, but when you match them you're penalized smh.

Mentally I think Dwight's content with mediocrity. He's just not as competitive as other superstars are. If someone dunks on Dwight, he isn't trying to comeback at them. If Marc Gasol scores on Dwight 10 straight points, Dwight isn't even looking to comeback. I wish Dwight would take things a little more personal but for some reason he doesn't.

Dwight Howard WAS one of the most physically imposing centers of all time for a span of 7 or 8 years.

Dwight Howard NOW is a very good player, but clearly not at the level of physical dominance.

That being said... WTF is he deserving to receive so much criticism?? Or is this simply STILL a carryover of the LAL experience, and the media guys trying to get bait clicks or whatever with the Lakers fans???

    Goodness folks....

I see Dwight turning into the sourpuss Orlando player the year after the finals, then we all know what happened in LA, and now Houston. However, none of it is his fault!!

I agree with Skip (rare). Dwight is getting 23 mil a year cries he's not getting enough touches well thats because he won't set a damn solid pick and he insists on doing something he completely sucks at and thats posting up. Part of the blame is on the coaching staff but overall it's Dwight. There should be no such thing as playoff Dwight he should try his best to play like that all season unfortunately that's not what I'm seeing. He has a lot to prove this year and for the first time I'm really starting to doubt whether he really wants to win.

How is Dwight overrated? I don't think he's been an All star for 2 years now. Nobody ever builds Dwight up to the point where he is overrated. Skip just talking crazy

I have a hard time believing Howard is 100%. He doesn't have the same lift he once had. Even when he is running to the front of the rim he doesn't appear to get much force in his jump. And he is seems completely unable to finish if he is even touched. Dwight used to just jump over people and finish through contact. He was never as physical as Shaq, but he still was a force in the paint (except against Yao).

In his defense, his rebounding and defense hasn't been bad. He doesn't get any of those ridiculous offensive rebounds he did as a kid where he would just go so much higher than everyone else. Too often the perimeter defenders let their man go into the paint, Dwight steps up, and nobody boxes out his man. So even when he effects the shot, the weak side help is never there and they score on second chance points.

Sorry, but James Harden and T Jones are the most guilty of this. Harden letting his man go by trying to do a poke check or his matador-like defense, and T Jones failing to box out his guy or come help from the weak side.

I'm upset with Harden and Howard. I think Harden's play is negatively effecting Howard's, but Howard has definitely lost something. There is no communication between the two. I refuse to believe that everything is fine between the two.

The first year, there were smiles and lobs galore. Now, the two hook up on an alley, and they act like they're just doing run of the mill paperwork. There is absolutely no excitement when these two hook up. All the time, I see Harden throwing alleys and then turning around to walk to the other end while Howard shoots freethrows. He doesn't even recognize the big man's effort. Or Howard finishing an alley, and not even making eye contact with James, he just gives a little point like "yah, I'm recognizing you, but I don't want to."

After witnessing the last year and half of these two, I am seriously considering moving on from one, if not both of them. James Harden too often plays like a fraudster. He is so much better than that, but his EFFORT is so inconsistent, it's hard to stand up for the guy -- even when he drops near triple doubles. /rant

I honestly think you are touching on a bigger issue, Houston is playing with no heart. For years one of my favorite things about the Rockets was that whether they won or lost they played hard and never quit. Watching them now it looks like they are willing to give possessions and games away and the bench plays harder than the starting line-up. Beverley plays hard, but does not want to rock the boat with his teammates by calling them out. Harden and Howard are playing for stats rather than wins.

Best case scenario Houston is bored and waiting to wake up for the play-offs. Worse and likely case they miss the play-offs and replace JB Bickerstaff, despite his efforts to get this team to play with heart.

Dwight's not the problem imo. I see him playing hard when he's in the game. We need a good coach to bring this team together.

    Super overrated?

The dude is still a top tier interior defender and rebounder, even in limited minutes and with injuries. My issue with him is he plays in the playoffs like a MVP candidate, but in the regular season he cruises. He also has a pretty low Bball IQ and constantly gets in foul trouble.

Otherwise, he's not super overrated. He's not '09-'11 Dwight, but if we had a defensive strategy, an offensive strategy with him getting touches, played 34-35mpg, and stopped being a little b**** about resting he's a legitimate 18/14 player.

I agree with him actually. I've never liked him. I'm just forced to cheer for him because he's on my team. He's worked with 3 of the best centers of all time (Ewing, Dream & Kareem) and still doesn't have a post move. He's really just a more athletic Ben Wallace but making triple the money. I hope we trade him so I don't have to cheer for him anymore.

I like Howard better than Harden in almost every way except points per game and injury frequency.

Sucks that we always seem to have fatally flawed stars.
