I've heard JR doesn't have a keyboard. He just thinks the words and they appear. Though there are rumors that he can't do the same with the mouse, so he still has to physically click. I think that's why people are occasionally able to beat him on posting the latest news.
He's not wrong. True 3 point specialists (ie high volume and high % but not a star) that aren't a black hole on defense are in short supply and very difficult to acquire. Here's my rough list: Middleton (nope) JJ Redick (nope) Korver (nope) Knight (nope) Green (nope) McCollum (nope) Bradley (maybe) Matthews (nope) Gordon (maybe) Mills (nope) Beal (nope)
I have just solved world's energy problem with Fission-Technology system". Now all I need is 50 or so Nobel prize winning nuclear physicist to work on my "system". But there are so few in the world. Having better physicist is something I'd love to have but they don't make them easy to acquire. I have hired few guys from Community colleges who took Physics 101 last semester but you know what, they will improve. By the way, I am a Sociology major. You are free to worship me, I am very active on Social Media.
He's not gonna say anything bad about Harden but I'd like to know what his metrics say. Harden seems really off this year to me. I hope he figures it out.
J.R. was the prototype that Siri was built on. Siri failed and became an iPhone tool. J.R. remains unmatched.
On the proper gentlemen this morning. Unfortunately I got in the car just as they were signing off. Anyone have a recap by chance?
I'm sure he talked about the needed to shoot more 3's. Houston just doesn't shoot enough to satisfy Morey and his analytics
Hopefully J.R. can jump in here with this, as I was trying to listen while driving amongst the kamikaze a**holes on Richmond / Westpark / Harwin this morning. It was an interview of no real substance. Morey sounded as tired as you might imagine. You had to try and read between the lines because nothing was even remotely overt: "Yeah, we're disappointed, yeah we've talked with the players about whatever issues each might be having" (and so on). Nothing to really chew on. I think the 790 boys knew (or had been forewarned about) not to ask for specifics: "When you gowanns ta trade these guys?" The 790 guys did seem to be running with the Dwight Howard Unhappy story, pre-Dwight denial; and Morey wasn't fighting them off about it (i.e., "you guys know better than to believe that stuff").
I think they usually post the audio on their website around noon or so. Check back in an hour or two and the audio may be posted here.
"Yeah, we're disappointed, yeah we've talked with the players about whatever issues each might be having" Yep sounds like personal issues going on
Respect to him for appearing...... that cannot be easy. It really sounds like Daryl Morey has given up on this team.
We're struggling up and down the roster and have to keep at it. Everyone has to do their job and keep improving. We've had some positives in terms of improvement but last two games were disheartening. -(Adversity) You learn about people through that. That's when things are tested. I do agree a short period of adversity can help a team. It allows people to bring up issues festering, allows players who haven't been playing to emerge and take a step forward and help. The goal is not to have adversity. The goal is to win at a high level and we're nowhere near that. -(Pulse of the team right now?) There's a lot of frustration up and down. Coaching staff every day is simplifying, they're changing, they're making sure we can execute well the foundational stuff we're doing. Talking to the players, working one on one with video, working as a team, meeting, what are the issues underlying, what are the causes of the poor play. Pretty much up and down from Mr. Alexander down to the last guy, we're re-working and re-assessing everything because it's obviously been a big disappointment so far. -(How important is that court stretching if you don't have Dwight scoring on the low post) Donatas is a key piece but it's been unfair to him. Wherever you turn, things have come out worst than we hoped. Unfair to expect D-Mo to come back and contribute like he did last year when he carried us when Dwight was out. He's a key piece but right at this moment, he's not anywhere near where he was last year. That's a common theme from guy 1 to 15 with very limited exceptions. Every guy is not playing to the level they expect of themselves. That's bad fortune but also some systemic issues we're working to address.
did they follow up and ask him what those 'systemic issues" were? be curious to know what in morey's mind our main issues are.
No. Sympathetic interview. Let's bring Daryl on but not really ask any questions. ... OK, thanks for coming Daryl. We're sorry your team is struggling but we really hope you get it turned around!
