I live in Austin with an old friend currently. And he has been running the AC this evening and also when he went to bed. I'm curious if anyone else out there is doing that. I personally have a pretty wide range of temperatures that I am comfortable with, so I'm not mad about it running. I find it more humorous than anything. (the only time I would really concern myself is if my son is sleeping at my place I don't want freeze the poor kid) So anyone out there in the Austin, Houston, San Antonio, or Dallas area running their AC in December??
I like it cold. Most of the year I keep my thermostat at 68. And I have a fan blowing on me at night. Right now, since it's a little cooler out, I'll have it at 70 (sometimes 71). When it gets colder out, I'll have the heat kick on if it gets below 66 or 67. Sometimes it's as much for the air circulation as it is the temperature. I'm uncomfortable when the air is just "still" for an extended period of time.
AC only on in the summer, even sub-freezing temps won't get me to turn on the heat in the Winter; why waste money on electricity when a hoodie will suffice.
Never a heater. My AC has come on a couple times since winter but that is Tx winter for you. 76 is my Comfort zone
Never warmer than 75 and never cooler than 70, at least when we're at home and not asleep. When it gets cold I set the heat to 68 or so over night. So I run the AC/heat to stay within that range.
I usually have the Nest set for 72 at night. I don't like it colder than 72, but I need to feel cool air blowing to be able to fall asleep easily.
I love the cold and since we have no cold weather down here in Houston I keep it at 67 at night and 71 during the day.
Sounds like my place. Hoping this cooler air pushes out these clouds, and we get some drier air....love having windows open with the constant cool breeze.
Same here, due to years of working nights and dealing with sleep apnea, I've got sleep issues and keeping it cold at night helps a lot.
