    The explanation is actually pretty smart.

    They'd need a 3-pointer plus a foul for a chance at a 4 point play.

    Unlikely, but not 0%.

    Not really because he could dunk it, he could grab a rebound and call timeout.

    still makes no sense to me, since he was able to grab the rebound (so the batting the ball around and the time expire part of the explanation does not apply here), he could have called a time out and the team can probably attempt a in bound tip in sort of play with probably 0.2 on the clock.
