You act as if he was a firm top 3 player before? If I recall, he was in the discussion... but many considered Lebron Durant 1/2, then (insert) for 3, which was a range of players, which included Davis. There was not a consensus on him as a top 3, however. Such a title like above should be towards, say, like "Is Lebron still the best player in the League?" (he is), or "Is Durant still No. 2? (imo, yes). The difference here is that these guys had solidified their status in these positions for a while now. This is Davis' 4th year: he didn't have top 3 status firmly in lock.
He's really good. No to top 3 though. Not yet anyways. I thought it was premature in preseason when respectable writers like Zach Lowe were saying he might be the MVP.
Man Zach Lowe was waaay off with his predictions about the Pelicans during the offseason. He expected them to make the biggest jump.
Yeah he thought the pellies would win 50 plus. He also stopped short of calling the rockets his NBA champs but did think they would be real good. Sometimes writers are just like us. A lot of predictions gone wrong.
It was pathetic really. They were anointing him before he ever took over a game. He still hasn't, by the way.
