Hoyer, good guy, but guy just can't play well in big games. I think most Texans fans would rather roll into Indy with Yates and live with the result than what we know we will get with Hoyer.
Hoyer probably has brain damage, so Yates will practice all week with the first team and probably start next week.
I don't want to see Hoyer out there the rest of the season. What's the point, he will never win you a game, he'll do enough to not lose you agame but that's it. Not that Yates is any different. I expect O'brien to have his franchise QB next year. 3 years is enough to find the franchise's future at QB.
It's sad that every year we have to wish for our QBs to get hurt to see a change But I really hope that last one put him out. Seriously.
TJ Yates has no experience or chemistry with this team. Hoyer is AVERAGE and sometimes below average. Yates is Yates. This is all we have. Next week is basically the season & I don't see them winning that game. Watt clearly doesn't look the same with this hand issue.
of the 6 Texans wins, TJ Yates has 2....the only 2 impressive wins of the season against the Jets (8-5) and Bengals (10-3) Ryan Mallett has 1 against the Bucs (6-7) Brian Hoyer has 3, against the Saints (5-8), Titans(3-10), and Jags(5-8). Who should we start?
TJ Yates is a career backup for a reason and got cut by the Falcons for a reason. He's inconsistent. He had two good games this season for us, no doubt about it, but are you taking two good games or a body of work? Hoyer at least has a mediocre body of work which means there is a lower chance that Hoyer outright gifts Indy the win with multiple TOs. Yates is a risk and the Texans don't need risk to beat the Colts, they are not that good.
Hoyer's body of work is terrible at literally every level he's ever played at. Seriously, go check it out. There's a reason why he wasn't drafted. He wasn't even very good in high school.
If you think the Texans are going further with Yates then with Hoyer then reality will kick your ass pretty soon.
They already have done better this season with Yates than with Hoyer....it's not like anyone is predicting playoff success, just being better than with Hoyer which says almost nothing.
