Because he's been counted as a guard for all of his career? Lol at going by all-star positional designations for knowledge of basketball since the all-star game doesn't even have one for centers any more. Does the NBA know anything about basketball?
Harden's player efficiency rating this year - last time I bothered to check about a week ago - was the same as Hakeem's - in his 1994 MVP year.
Not since 1985 has a player scoring over 27 ppg failed to make the ASG, and Harden is scoring 29. And FWIW: Harden more than tripled Westbrook's votes last year. Was 3rd in the West. 5th in the entire NBA. Double more than the 4th vote getter.. with Kobe barely beating him. .
Real question. How many times since 1985 has a player averaging more than 27ppg been on a losing team?
lol, it's actually the other way around. Harden's FG% and 3pt% is deflated by his numerous 3 point & FT attempts. Typical Harden hater ignorance.
How so? That's what TS is - you factor in the FTs. At the end of the day a point scored is a point scored. Nobody is saying he is shooting great this year (although this will likely change soon - it still looks bad after the horrible start to the season - and by season's end he will be shooting around his averages most likely), but that doesn't change the fact that he is still efficient. Less efficient than in the past, but still more efficient than most. And stop with that flopping bull****. There are plenty of instances where he gets fouled and the refs don't call it. Watching the games I'm actually surprised that he is getting to the line as much as he does this season. I haven't felt this way in past seasons but this year, refs seem to be swallowing their whistles a lot when Harden drives.
1. I know what TS is, but it can still be inflated imo when the player shoots an extreme amount of freethrows, in Harden's case one FT for every two field goal attempts. What I meant to say is that a 57 TS% is extremely misleading when his fg% and 3pt% are as low as they are this season, the TS% number is hugely inflated by the amount of freethrows. Yes, it's mathematically efficient, but you should still think about his shot being cold and the percentage relying on refs calling fouls. Which leads me to point 2. 2. Well, this is mostly dictated by the soft rules in today's game. When I see Harden run into defenders which are not even really reaching/actively doing in their hands, Harden then not even really trying to put the ball in the basket and throwing his hands in the air, I honestly want to puke. It's a mockery of the game and makes real defense impossible. What are the defenders supposed, jump out of the lane and let him score uncontested?
All star game means way more to the players than it does to me, as a fan. If harden gets snubbed (I think he makes the team), I won't lose a bit of sleep over it. The all star game is boring and doesn't count for anything. I honestly only care for team victories that matter.
Are you kidding? I think the "Real Question" is why are you trying so hard to justify your incorrect statement that Harden has a real chance of not making the ASG. That's not going to happen, no way. To answer your question, without even looking... Michael Jordan Dominique Wilkens Purvis Short AI Vince Carter Arenas Stackhouse McGrady Kobe Melo Westbrook (I think, at time of ASG last year) And maybe Cousins this year
it seems like people here underestimate how many GSW fans there are. It's more likely Klay and Curry starts, it'll be up to the coaches if they want to see Harden in.
I asked a sincere question, no I'm not kidding. We are talking about Harden getting picked by the coaches over guys whose teams will likely also have winning records. Again, Iguodala for what right now looks to be a historic team, Conley, Westbrook, Chris Paul. As for your list, Jordan's team went to the playoffs. As did many of those teams which in comparison to their conference is all the coaches Have to go by. How many of these guys were voted in by the fans? That doesn't count, the fan vote doesn't care about how good you are actually playing, see Kobe Bryant. I guess Carter's team didn't go to the playoffs, but Melo gets voted in by the fans. Also Purvis never went to the all-star game and that year that Nique's team had a losing record, neither did he go that year even as great of a player he was. So this idea that Harden is some auto-lock I do not agree with. If you think he is then you are I guess reading the minds of the coaches and saying that no matter what the standings are they will pick Harden over Klay, Iguodala, Conley, CP3...that is if Westbrook is voted in as starter. As for Kobe. Kobe gets voted in every year by the fans. Which is not my argument. My argument is that if Harden doesn't get voted in by the fans and depending on the standings he could miss the all-star game. Hey, if you have all the votes of the coaches to prove otherwise then by all means, but looking at the history of who the coaches vote he could be in trouble. Especially if the Warriors do not slow down they could get 3 players. This seems to be what some are missing. I'm not saying Harden deserves it or not, I'm saying that it'll be up to the coaches and if the Rockets are still playing like garbage and say Westbrook starts alongside Curry...why are they going to vote Harden in over Conley, Klay, or CP3? It's a moot point if Harden's team stops playing like garbage which we all hope for but...
There are still nearly 40 days, but yesterday I voted for Curry, Westbrooke, Leonard, Griffin, and Cousins.
people here are confusing All Star selections with All NBA. Actually what's happening is ppl are using this thread to bash Harden. he will make the allstar game you fools whether we have a winning record or not
