Let him stay in the valley for a while. Let him work on his game away from the basket. Bring him back to the Rockets in a couple of months and then give him some minutes.
Very nice turnaround jump shots. Love this kids game, he's going to be one of Morey's homerun picks for sure.
this kid is another 2nd round Morey gem. He's not just a dunk machine, and i can see him becoming a world class defender. No idea what we've got in Decker, but this kid looks like he'll end up being one of the steals of the draft.
your eyes must be bad, all i see is a hustle guy the Rockets were awful with him on the court defensively when he played
he's a rookie bro; he'll take some time to adjust to the NBA game. But my eyes are good enough to see upside.
Good for him Always knew he would contribute to the Rockets. Already has done this season The certified grade A scrub OTOH, the pompous Dekker - SMH.
the issue with our player development is, playing with Harden..you dont get many shots per game, be it postups ....or creating space for a midrange shot. Harden dominates so much, I really think it has slowed down the development of a player like Jones
Hustle is important, but like all NBA players say - you have to throw everything out the window and learn everything again when you get to the NBA. As long as he develops consistently, no reason why he shouldn't get minutes by the end of this season. Look at this video, the dude is awesome already. Yes. First person I thought of too, no doubt their energy and hustle is similar. but Landry had high basketball IQ, especially defensively. 'Trez looks like he will need time to develop that IQ, but his motor, athletic ability, and offensive skills, will probably take him where Landry failed to go.
...and notice the score - his team allowed 129 points. The three point shooting is really the star of the clip - if he can be a good hustle guy, get a few blocks as a help defender, AND hit the 3 well enough to be covered, he'll be a real asset to this team(and make himself quite a bit of money at the same time). I agree that lock down defender is probably not in his future, but if he can just be a smart defender who keeps his fouls down and annoys shooters with his long arms, that's probably enough. If he can manage to guard 3 or 4 positions on switches - then watch out. I still haven't seen how well he can stay in front of NBA guards yet but Capella is not bad at that. We all need to be pulling for Capella to develop some range similar to what we saw on this clip from Harell..
I don't know - I always remember Landry as the master of working the baseline and finding little lanes to make smart cuts for baskets or to get boards. I haven't necessarily seen that from Harell yet. You guys remember when Landry's tooth ended up in Dirk's arm in that playoff game and he stayed in the game? That was awesome. I think he even had a game saving block or rebound at the end...miss Carl.
REALLY?!?!?! Cmon now we are going to start blaming Harden for player development GET OUT OF HERE!! The trolls have offically taken over the GARM #clutchretakethegarm!
Keep doing work down there, Trez. If he can develop that offensive game to be consistent he will be a nice piece
There aren't many full-fledged defenders out of college, especially big men. He may never be a stopper on D, but he will get better as the pace of the NBA game becomes more familiar.
He seemed to be playing well at the beginning of the NBA season, then something possibly happened and a possible someone put out his fire during games. Nice to see him playing with the possible same energy and passion he showed during the beginning of the NBA season.
I'm sure the coaching change on the fly that happened with the firing of McHale didn't help the rookies cause.
