You can't run new guys in the game every 3-4 minutes and expect for anybody to get any rhythm or for the offense and defense to have any cohesion. JBB keep running guys in and out every 3-4 minutes. It's always different combinations. Not working. Not going to work. Gotta settle on your top 8 and roll with them. Our chemistry is bad on both ends.

Maybe they should play better, so they can stay in.

Gotta agree with you on this. I kept thinking, Damn, what are you doing? DMo shuttled in (and, of course, very rusty). So-and-so shuttled in....and out.

And who let James Harden eat chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes before the game? Talk about playing in sludge.

But, yes, weird-ass rotations. Unless you're showing off players to trade them. (Ironically, Brewer might finally be waking up.)

JBB seems like one of the boys. Wish his pops was here to light a fire under this team.

Agree. I said it in the game thread....this is the first loss I blame on JB. Too late to realize he needed more shooting, and he stuck with Harden for too long.

Are you saying that JB is doing something different and wrong that McHale didn't do?

And Ariza is one of the top 8, no.

This was an injury game. When someone goes down in the 1st Q, it throws your planned rotation out the window. Plus, two bench players are very hot, needing extra time. DMo's minutes are part of his rehab, so that must happen.

Thread smells like a knee-jerk response regarding one game.

If you point this to vote, I'm thinking most people want JBB to be more responsive to game situations than McHale...especially an injury game.

Yes, he is intentionally subbing out the starters much earlier. And then he keeps subbing in and out all game long. Too much shuffling around. Too indecisive. Not able to tell what is working and what isn't working.

JBB might be shuffling players to appear he's actively "doing something" for adjustments Erring on side of overactivity instead of idleness.

I think Ariza going down changed the approach. He did end up finding something that worked. Maybe he actually should have kept Harden out the game instead of bringing him back in.

And if we are talking about more than just this game in JBB's tenure:

    1. Dwight not playing Back to Backs complicates rotations, as well. That's a luxury for teams that have plenty of experience playing with multiple rotations.
    2. Lawson's inconsistency is not caused by coaching failures in settling upon consistent 8-9 man rotations. Rather it's the reverse. Lawson's inconsistency is causing Coach difficulty in finding the right mix each game.

Still say this is a knee-jerk thread...that was about an injury game. And still odd, since Coach correctly stuck with Thornton and Brewer for added minutes since they were both hot, and Ariza was out.

We could easily start the reverse thread "JBB isn't experimenting with rotations enough" and get equal or more people to agree.

I have no problem with him shuffling the deck when guys play with no energy, effort, IQ or passion. I agree with you that he should stop taking out guys that are playing well. It seems as soon as a guy had a rhythm and got hot he was subbed out. Thornton has played with heart on both sides of the ball since the pre season. He's the best interior passer we've had next to Josh Smith. What else does he need to do to stay on the floor, damn.

He found one player that wanted to play ball tonight and get hot. But he didn't find anything that worked.

This team has serious issues at it's core. Hate to say it but it almost looks like Harden is trying to push Dwight out of town. Something is messed up with Harden. He's just not the same this year.

DH 4-5 shooting... *5 shot attempts. I don't get it. We're like a football team who never runs a running play.

    I agree.

I've seen good teams with big, varied rotations to a degree.

But the rotations have to make sense. On SOME nights jb's rotations don't make sense to me.

Last night wasn't one of them.

Thats looking too far into it, I think. In that case, Harden is trying to push out Ty Lawson too. He's isoing his own friend out the offense. And he's pushing out all his preseason objectives too, such as moving off the ball more. For all Harden's assists, he doesnt seem to favor anyone in particular except for the quick pass to a 3 point shooter.

Whatever it is, yes it is messed up.

    *Double post*

Just adding that JBB's rotations is something to keep an eye on. Rockets supposed strength of depth hasnt been working too well. Brewer TJones and Lawson are your 6th-8th guys. All of them make a case for being waived rather than played
