couldn't let this get bumped off the first page tonight! "They keep you doped with religion and sex and TV and you think that you're clever and classless and free but you're still ****in' peasants as far as I can see..."
there is a 3 hour rolling stone interview from 1970 up on itunes. just go to podcasts and search 'lennon interview' - its a 5 part thing, but worth the listen. its in the immediate aftermath of the beatles breakup and lennon was very candid about the whole experience - as someone who is such a fan that ive read multiple books on the beatles, i must say that this was a very enlightening interview. he doesnt hold back on anything, especially mccartney. definitely no love lost there and he was pissed at george at the time too b/c of his treatment of yoko. he said ringo was the only one who was nice to her.
"I'm not afraid of death because I don't believe in it. It's just getting out of one car, and into another." RIP GOAT.
Chapman and Hinkley closed out the assassination era. By then it devolved from frustrated, impotent zealots to flat out wackadoos, and probably helped modernize private security. Other than clip size I think there's a lot of similarity between all the killers then and now.
Why he was killed. Imagine there's no heaven It's easy if you try No hell below us Above us only sky Imagine all the people Living for today... Imagine there's no countries It isn't hard to do Nothing to kill or die for And no religion too Imagine all the people Living life in peace... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will be as one Imagine no possessions I wonder if you can No need for greed or hunger A brotherhood of man Imagine all the people Sharing all the world... You may say I'm a dreamer But I'm not the only one I hope someday you'll join us And the world will live as one
