our PG depth would be shoddy after a trade like this. You think PHX would throw in Goodwin instead of Price?

I don't know how much of the Pelicans you guys watch (I watch them a lot).. but Ryan Anderson is probably the worst defensive PF in the league. I mean he's absolutely terrible. He can be scored on seemingly at will like nobody is even there. He's not particularly quick, so even his rotations are slow. He's just very very bad on that end.

And he's a streaky shooter. If he's on, he might be able to justify being such a bad defender. But when he's off, he's beyond worthless on the floor. He'll provide nothing on the offensive end and hurt the team immensely on the defensive end.

It cannot be stressed enough how bad of a defender he is. I'm not sure there is a worse defender at any position in the NBA who gets regular minutes.

On defense, Terrence Jones looks like Ben Wallace when comparing him to Ryan Anderson.

It's cool and all to get excited about adding players that can help offensively. It's easy as a fan to see a player who can score.

Here's the problem. The Rockets defense is HORRIBLE. 28th out of 30 defensive rating. That's not to say their offense is great (16th), but there have been lots of analysis about how they are at least getting some of the shots they want, are relatively open, etc.

I'm not sure how either Markieff or Ryan Andersen or the like really help.

I guess to the extent that TJones isn't that helpful, those guys might be slightly better, and DMo can get back in the groove, and then you are at least better.

And I realize nobody is trading us Draymond Green or Tristan Thompson or the like anytime soon.

Oh, and Devin Booker would be a GREAT get... but why would Phoenix trade him? He has the Klay Thompson potential of this draft.

We'd be trading Bev for Price, PG for PG. Price could pick up Bev's rotation spot in a heart beat. He's a vet that plays well on both ends. Not a significant downgrade and might be an upgrade because Price can actually make a play.

Shoots .38 from the 3, .47 from the 2 and .86 from the FT, 6 rebounds per game and 17-18 ppg

Now lets say he is bad on defense, comparing him to Jones you still take Anderson

Ryan Anderson at a minimum would be at the right spot on the floor.

    Pretty much this.

They're hampered for the time being since their only two "big" contracts, Beverley & Brewer, aren't tradeable until January 15th.

Unless they move Lawson($12.4M) or Ariza($8.2M), Brewer & Beverley are the only two [big] assets they have to trade [and again, not until January 15th].

    McDaniels($3.2M), Jones($2.5M), Motiejunas($2.3M), Dekker($1.6M), Capela($1.2M), Harrell($1M), Thornton(947K), Terry(947K) all make less than $3M. And even then, you probably aren't trading DM or CC.

I don't think you realize how bad he is on defense. He's like James Harden on defense except he can't even play on the ball defense like Harden can kind of do.

Harden can kind of hold a guy down when he really puts the effort in... but Ryno will try and still be awful on an ungodly scale.

I mean, I know Ronnie Price is a point guard, I just don't want him to be a point guard for the Houston Rockets haha. He isn't very good and does not bring the same intensity and junkyard dog attitude that Bev does.

He's a career 37% shooter and only 29% from three. Is this really a guy we want to be playing big minutes at PG for us? Especially since Lawson hasn't been reliable at all thus far

Here's part of an article from "Bourbon Street Shots"... part of ESPN's TrueHoop Network:

I'm telling y'all.. Anderson's defense is beyond awful.

We could technically dump Terry in the trade as well then sign to minimum Dleague players... But at that point idk if the trade is worth it.

Lawson is most likely a gone at the deadline. We're not going to sit on his expiring contract and him play mop-up minutes for us. He's either going to get significant rotation minutes and become our primary PG or we're moving him out for another PG (Jack). Bank on it.

As far as Price goes, put him on a good team and watch his percentages go up. He's played on a lot of bad teams. He's had his most efficient play when he's on a good team. He knows how to play. He's a vet. Has great athleticism. Is a very, very good defender. And he can shoot the wide-open spot up shots and knock them down. He's a better shooter than Bev. He's just had to take too many bad shots on bad teams and it's killed his percentages.

Another reason why you have to watch the games and understand player's circumstances. All you have to do is look at Price's and Bev's shot mechanics and you can see Price is a better pure shooter. He's just got to be put on a good team where he is handed an allotment of open spot-up shots and he doesn't have to force shots.

Ryan Anderson couldn't guard his own shadow and he's rarely healthy.

I am all for it, despite his inconsistencies.
