Appel is certain to be included along with either VV or Feliz. The Astros can probably hold onto Martes and McCullers. They can possibly hold onto Reed, depending on how highly the Marlins value him. I could see Springer being included if it protects a couple prospects the Astros value. There are a number of outfields available in trade/FA.
Who his agent is....... plus it was the worst kept secret late last season. I heard it from a sister that works on Crawford.
I posted this in the wrong thread earlier, but I still thinking something like this as a foundation makes a lot of sense for both teams involved: But from the Astros' perspective, I offer a package of Jose Altuve, Jonathan Singleton, and Mark Appel. I would sell the idea of moving Dee Gordon to SS, and having a 1-2 punch atop the lineup of Gordon and Altuve raising hell on the basepaths. Both Altuve and Singleton are extended for really team-friendly deals (although Singleton still has to pan out, so there is risk there). But for a cheap team like the Marlins, both contracts have to appeal quite a bit to them. And Appel provides them with a high-quality arm to hopefully help soften the blow of losing Fernandez. From our side, although it hurts, at least we have Bregman to hopefully continue to develop and eventually take over as the 2B of the future, and losing the other 2 guys doesn't really hurt us at all. If I have to weigh the options, I take a duo of Jose Fernandez/Alex Bregman vs the duo of a solid-yet-unspectacular SP/Altuve. As I mentioned earlier, a rotation of Keuchel, Fernandez, McCullers, Fiers, and McHugh is simply too tantalizing to pass up, and I would gladly overpay to make that happen.
A 23-year old under club control for four more years... Unless the Marlins temporarily go brain dead, they're going to extract an enormous cost.
Inning limits post TJ surgery are starting to become very anecdotal. Its still going to be very arm/individual dependent. I also don't see the Astros over-stressing any young arm, injury or not.
I'll play. Appel, Bregman, and VV/Feliz, plus possibly Marisnick. And I'll say zero percent chance on Altuve or Springer being involved.
Marlins have $300MM invested in Giancarlo Stanton, who is hitting his prime. They'd be fools to trade a 23-year old ace for three minor leaguers and a very good fourth outfielder. Hope I'm wrong, but I expect the cost is Astro(s)nomical.
That makes more sense to me than a complete prospect package. I feel like Altuve is a sell-high candidate...not that I don't love him, but out of the 2, I think he's at his peak. And his peak is very good..but his skill-set seems like it could succumb to high variability based on age (speed) or luck (BABIP). The only issue would be (1) replacing a productive bat at a premium position on a team searching for productive bats already and (2) the camaraderie between him and Correa. I know #2 isn't a huge deal big picture, but I hate messing with it because it's Correa. (On the flip side, Springer seems to have a positive influence on the entire team.)
I'll continue your hypothetical. If the Marlins say "Replace Bregman with Altuve and we have a deal." You say "no thank you?" If the front office is confident in Bregman's ability, he could slide in as the 2B of the future, so the loss of Altuve would hurt, but it is mitigated by the presence and potential of Bregman at least. That is why having a deep and talented pipeline is so valuable.

I'd really like the Astros to keep Bregman and Reed. Excited about both those guys. For Fernandez, I'd trade any pitcher in our system (prob. take 2-3) + VV/Fiers and one of Tucker/Cameron

No one here would take the equivalent Marlin package (3 minor leaguers + 4th OFer) for Dallas Keuchel. And Hernandez, given his age, may actually be more valuable. Granted, the Marlins weren't six outs away from the LCS last year - but I don't think anyone would haven taken it last offseason, either.
Must be joking. They reportedly wanted Urias and Seager from the Dodgers. They would laugh at that package.
VV, Feliz, Appel, Marisnick were the main value in the deal. Other guys are just guys I thought Marlins could actually use at MLB level that wouldn't hurt the Astros, but would be fine keeping those guys and sending prospects instead. I didn't realize Altuve had a couple of team options so I could see him being used. Springer...Think Astros would just prefer to keep him over Fernandez. Not as good per year, but has two extra years of club control.
