I hope that happens. I hope it's within the Big 12.

If UH doesn't match the academic standards of the ACC, not sure they'd match the PAC 12's either. IIRC, that was one of the PAC 12's concerns in the last round of realignment talk regarding the other Big 12 teams that would have come along with OU and Texas.

Unfortunately, the reality is that the ACC isn't going to expand into Texas with UH. They need a powerful draw, and UH simply isn't it, regardless of how good they are. They could have had a top-5 TCU a few years ago when the Big East was falling apart but had no interest, even when TCU was begging major conferences to take them - it's the same situation for UH, except UH isn't even as strong a brand as TCU was back then.

You have got to be kidding me. Baylor is clearly the best team in Texas, we are just ravaged by injuries.

We were winning the whole thing with Seth Russell.

As far as expansion goes, I wouldn't mind at all to add UH but the OK schools don't want any other schools in Texas so I imagine we would go the Memphis/Cincy/USF/UCF way.

Academically, how does UH stack up with Oklahoma St, Wash St and Oregon St?

Looking at U.S. News Top Public Schools rankings...

    Oregon State - #68
    Washington State - #71
    Oklahoma State - #79
    University of Houston - #105

I have no idea what rankings they look at or how much of a concern it really was but recall a concern possibly about Oklahoma State and Texas Tech since it was thought that they'd have to make a move with their in-state counterpart (OU and Texas).

Not going to argue what-ifs. Injuries are a huge facet of the game; just look at what UH has endured this season. That said, if UH were playing Baylor this weekend, I'd take UH in a heartbeat.

The thing with going Memphis/Cincy/Florida is that if another conference decides to pick UH up, that would be trouble for the Big 12. They don't want any more conferences poaching Texas, especially with A&M leaving. The Big 12, out of necessity, will come calling.

I spoke with Chancellor Khator about this recently. In her words, we are at-or-above the median in Big 12 academically and better than the "lowest ranked" school in the Big 10 (I assume this is Nebraska).

As far as the PAC 12 is concerned, we meet or exceed their bottom-feeders (Arizona State, Wazzou, etc) but of course we're blown out of the water by the UCLA, Stanford, Washington's of the world.

The ace in the hole for us is our research status. We're among the best research universities in the nation and so while our undergraduate academic standards are not great, we do have a world-class piece of the puzzle that is very valuable to them.

The other major consideration is the PAC is essentially landlocked. They have nowhere to expand to but East, and when it comes to what is still available West of the Mississippi River, we get top billing. They'd absolutely love to get their conference and network into what will soon be the 3rd largest city in the nation.

How do you know the Chancellor? I'm a huge fan of what she has done for UofH.

I got to meet with her at an alumni event here in DC. She's just as great as advertised.

Of course you would, as we have a wide receiver playing quarterback right now. It is ridiculous that you'd even try to make an injury equivalence.

Good info....but they would go after Texas first to get into the Texas market.

I just hate how UH doesn't control its own destiny.

Greg Ward is a WR playing QB as well. So was Kyle Postma.

Does the stadium have to hold a certain size to be eligible to be in the Big 12?

At the very least, probably needs to sell out for conference championship games....

Definitely sucks with the injuries, but I'd slow down with your Championship proclamations. Beating up on Lamar don't prove anything.

You do realize Lamar actually had a lead in that game too.
