Odd to have two established closers on a team in Jensen and Chapman. Seems like a waste of resources, but I guess they have resources to waste. You'd think they'd trade all those same prospects for a position of greater need.
omg. Todd. <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Reds have made everyone available, including todd frazier</p>— Jon Heyman (@JonHeymanCBS) <a href="https://twitter.com/JonHeymanCBS/status/673656916082606080">December 7, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Certainly true - but you'd think they'd just chase elite middle relievers rather than paying the extra price for a "proven closer" who won't be closing (or devaluing their own closer). One of Jansen/Chapman is going to be annoyed at being dropped to the 8th inning.
They are probably being equally stubborn. Would guess that Luhnow won't go much further than Appel as the headliner.
While both were in STL. Jocketty's a traditional baseball guy and Luhnow is a highly progressive sabermetric guy. They clashed a lot about the direction of the team. Eventually the divide in the organization got to the point where Jocketty was fired.
Jocketty was very difficult at the deadline... A lot of people on Crawford Street feel he was letting his own person opinions of Luhnow bleed into his professional dealings.
More to it than that. They personally really disliked each other. Both of them have a reputation for being cut throat and abrasive. Luhnow felt that Jocketty was attempting to sabotage his career and Jocketty felt that Luhnow was trying to undermine him. Luhnow was hired by the Cardinals with zero experience and without consulting Jocketty. There was no respect by Jocketty, he was floored someone with no experience was given a job in scouting.
Hoping a trade for Lucroy is imminent. I don't think the Astros go into a season with championship aspirations having Max Stassi as the backup to Jason Castro. In a World Series year it makes more sense to have Castro as the second catcher, catching the majority of Keuchel's starts and spot starting for a total of around 50 games. Lucroy would start 110 or so behind the plate and another 45 or so games at 1B/DH.
Whatever it is we need bullpen help asap. Are none of you guys high on davis at all? think if we can get him for 5/100 hes worth it
probably extra-worried about getting fleeced by luhnow because of this too. easier for him to swallow helping/getting fleeced by any other GM in the league.
Not sure how reliable but... <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Rumor is Melancon and low minor league hitter for Mike Fiers, someone in Houston bullpen and minor leaguer</p>— mike vukovcan (@mvukovcan) <a href="https://twitter.com/mvukovcan/status/673736315498819584">December 7, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
