That's because Zaza isn't known for his ability to score. Last night he was the center though, but that's not something you can get away with most nights. I'll ask you this, would you play Jones against Marc Gasol, Pau Gasol, Cousins? Unless you are insane the answer is no, because he's not a center.
Fair enough, I'm just saying that doesn't prove anything. Jones is a mediocre bench quality player and DMo is a quality starter. There's really no comparison.
I disagree. I actually think they are both mediocre bench players. Jones gets the start because his rebounding prowess.
Most of the time when I am arguing for Jones, I am arguing against trading him. Unless they are going to get someone better. Most of the trade scenarios thrown out are done so just to be hating. Regardless of how people feel about Jones, he has always shown that he plays well with the starters.
LOL that's a ridiculous statement for many reasons first of all that Jones isn't a good rebounder. Jones and DMo are pretty close to even when it comes to rebounding actually. Also, swap out Jones being hurt most of last season for DMo being hurt most of the season....do the Rockets even make the playoffs? Maybe? You greatly underestimate what a competent PF brings to the table.
No. I don't underestimate what a competent PF brings to the table. I just noticed that most of the competent ones were out of the playoffs.
I'm talking about what DMo can bring to THIS team. Again, without DMo last year, the Rockets probably don't make the playoffs with as many games as Dwight Howard missed. Fortunately it was Jones out most of the season instead, someone the team didn't miss.
Also, I want to point out that the reason Jones is "bad" is simply because it's his last year of his rookie deal, if he was a rookie, we'd be excited for what he might become as he progresses. The issue is that Jones never progressed as a player. He's got the physical tools to be a good player, it just never happened and you can't wait forever.
He's only 23 years old. Even if he never improves from what he is now, he'll be in the league for a long time. I think he can still improve. I've always thought Jones doesn't seem to have a grasp of what he can and cannot do. And I don't think he has a very high basketball IQ. But, someday everything could click into place and he could become a better player. I don't think the Rockets will keep him beyond this year, and I don't think they should for what he's likely to get paid. But, I wouldn't mind keeping Jones if DMo has further back problems, and Jones is available at a bargain price. Jones gets hated on non-stop around here, but there are worse players in the league. He's just not the ideal player we would want at PF. But, let's not kid ourselves about DMo either. DMo has weaknesses too. He's a poor rebounder, and he's not a very physical player. DMo has a hard time playing more than about 25 minutes before he gets exhausted.
Sure, maybe he could one day improve, and I hope he does but I don't see a reason to waste a roster spot on him hoping that one day things will fall into place for him. I'm sure he'll find a spot on some team's bench and he could be there quite a while, I just hope for more when it comes to the Rockets than that.
Little known fact... Terrence Jones does not speak English. He speaks a variant of English which includes all words except "box", and "out".
D-Mo could man the center spot when Dwight was out for half of the year pretty damn well. He's the ideal 4/5 guy in today's NBA offensively; stretch the floor as 4, and a tremendous inside touch. He's not an elite rebounder, he's servicable. When it goes about to evaluate these two, the strengths/weaknesses heavily favor D-Mo here. D-Mo is a keeper.
Smh here we go with these love affair post illustrating your only true love. Are you a Rockets fans or a Dmo only fan. Both players are key players for this team. We need both of them s9 let's stop with this nonsense about who's a quality starter and who's only a mediocrity bench players. And since you think Jones is only a mediocrity bench player, it must be nice that he could get 17 points and 9 rebounds against quality starters.
That's just a narrative started by Mr. Clutch in an effort to troll, it's nice to see that so many people don't think for themselves and bought into that BS. Good job.
Damn that mediocrity bench player is having yet another solid game. And if you were a true basketball fan you would see that.
