LOL, you and that socialist label. Perhaps you want to describe what is it with Bernie that is so bad instead of just throwing out that socialist label. And BTW, a recent poll show that American would choose Bernie over ALL current Republican presidential candidates. Must be very telling of Americans.
Aw, the United States president disrespected UN rules. I thought the Fox News Bunch would be in sexual ecstasies. Obama, how dare you not do exactly as the UN tells you! (I also feel shy like a schoolgirl about this omg)
Well, you know, by today's standards on the far right, Eisenhower would be a socialist and LBJ would be Lenin himself.
I've said all along that I was a socialist. I belonged to the socialist party at one point. In 2012 I voted for a socialist for President. It isn't telling anything that I haven't told about myself all along.
socialism is people working together to produce a sum greater than the parts socialist democrats aren't even radical, it's really the mainstream idea behind the growth and well being of America from the Great Depression to Reagan.
To your credit you have. I was just picking with you. I am still 180 from your beliefs but still respect you.
yea , yea, you reach utopia when you get to the point of "From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs", if it just weren't for that pesky human nature where some people will be lazy and just live off of others and some will get tired of supporting the lazy people.
I get it, I respect you, and even though I disagree with you often, I believe you speak from the heart, and don't doubt your positive intentions (as misguided as they might be ).
You quote Bonhoeffer. You do know he was a social democrat? He would detest the Christianity that Cruz is a proponent of. ******** Social-democratic values are a check on rampant individualism, in part because rampant individualism, unconstrained by any responsibility for interests beyond the individual, is inherently destructive. That is why liberal capitalism, left unfettered, is capable of destroying any social institution that inhibits the maximisation of individual self-interest. That includes the family itself. A practical manifestation of this destructive impulse can be found in the radical 2006 reforms to the Australian labour market, under which the last remaining protections for preserving family time are sacrificed at the altar of market utility. In this area, at least, conservatives and old-fashioned social liberals share a common commitment to social institutions against uncompromising market fundamentalism. This progressive social-democratic impulse is also reflected in an entire tradition in modern Western politics, now over 150 years old, called Christian socialism. Keir Hardie, the founder of the British Labour Party, was a Christian socialist, as was Andrew Fisher, the first majority Labor prime minister of Australia. For his part, Bonhoeffer was a committed social democrat, although he did not use the term "Christian socialist" to describe his own politics. Nonetheless, his writings on "otherness" and "the oppressed" fit well within this perspective. It is a view of politics which seeks to enlarge society, rather than contract it into a colony of self-contained white picket fences. It also attaches a primacy to the most critical social institution of all: the family. https://www.themonthly.com.au/monthly-essays-kevin-rudd-faith-politics--300
Talking about socialism. I am a member of the Democratic Socialists of America, Houston Chapter. DSA is probably the organization most in tune with Bernie Sander's values, though he has not been a member as far as I know. dsausa.org
Man, Trevor Noah eviserated Cruz last night on the Daily Show. The best part was some clips of Cruz's former roommate talking about how much he loathed him lol.
So I read through the DSA constitution for a laugh. At the very first it makes the following statement: " The name of this organization shall be the Democratic Socialists of America, a not-for-profit corporation." Then through the entire document, the word "dues" is mentioned at least 26 times. Why would such an anti-capitalist group want so much money??
That was a good segment. The quote from his freshmen roommate was hilarious. If Cruz were to win (0% chance), D.C. would chew him up and spit him out faster than they did Jimmy Carter.
