As an aside even Muslims along with Christians can get mad at their work place or school place and engage in mass killings in the US. Not very often of course in countries with modern gun laws.

 

There are laws against pipe bombs.

Anyway this is all part of the distraction that always comes out when these things happen. Yes guns don't kill people, people kill people but guns make it far easier to kill people. Just in this case alone consider that virtually all of the casualties were caused by the guns while few of the bombs detonated. The fact is that it is far harder to make bombs that it is to get guns especially when you can buy them legally as it appears in this case.

So yes determined people will find ways to kill people but the problem is that we make it far to easy for them to find ways to kill people rather than making it harder.

Also yes the ideology is dangerous but this isn't an either or situation and to make it as such is a distraction. We can try to deal with the the root causes as much as we can deal with the means and the methods.

The key point is that France has suffered more casualties from mass shootings JUST IN 2015 than the US has in all of Obama's time in office. And France's population is only ~60 million people, vs. 300 million in the US.

To the topic, this is kind of a nightmare case for us. Let's admit it. Peaceful American raised person goes on military grade rampage, and unlike many of our shooters, happens to be Muslim. Married to middle eastern woman 1 yr before rampage. Helps her come to US. Nightmare. ISIS probably not involved but they could not manufacture a better PR event in terms of increasing anxiety and mistrust between peoples in America.
