Does the specific weapon used really matter? If they used a .45 to kill people en masse would it make it better for you? I mean, clearly not because it would be a hell of a lot harder to push the anti-AR agenda if they happened to have used anything else....but would they be any less dead? Of course not.

Also, you do realize that pushing the anti-AR agenda only causes more AR's to be bought right?

Is it that hard to hunt for deer with non-automatic weapons?

An AR-15 isn't an automatic weapon.

SBPD: Suspects fired between 65-75 rounds from their rifles at the scene.

We did locate one pipebomb, it was 3 pipebombs combined into one that had a remote control car device that appeared to not have worked in this case.

    (4) high capacity .223 rifle magazines dropped by the suspects, left as evidence.

Suspects were wearing black style tactical gear. They were not wearing bullet proof vests. They did have tactial style vests that held equipment, magazines and ammunitiion.

Officer involved shooting after the incident, 7 police agencies were involved including our department. 23 officers fired their weapons. 380 rounds fired at the suspects. Suspects fired 76 rifle round at the officers. On their person, body and in the vehicle, they had over 1400 .223 caliber rounds available to them and over 200 9MM rounds on their person as well. 2 officers were injured, one officer had a gunshot wound to left leg, not life threatening. 2nd deputy sustained cuts to his leg from broken glass or shrapnel.

    At the house of residence:
12 pipebomb devices in the house or garage
Hundreds of tools to contruct IEDs or pipe bombs
    2,000 9MM rounds
    Over 2500 .223 rounds
Several hundred 22 long rifle rounds

    Were they planning another attack?

We don't know. Clearly they were equipped and could have done another attack.

We are confident the two people involved in the shooting here are the two dead suspects. We have no credible info there is an immediate threat to anyone in the area or region.

3 pipebombs were attached together attached to a remote control car designed to set off.

No info that the suspects had any cameras on them.

What happened in the room? Was their a dispute?

We have people in the room who indicated the suspect was in the room during the early part of this meeting. It was a county public health Christmas Holiday gathering luncheon. He was there early on, then left. He left under some kind of duress or as if he was angry. Someone else said he disappeared and don't know where he went. We don't know enough about that yet.

    No motive for the shooting.

    How did they get in?

The building this place took in, I'm sure you all have aerial views. This took place in southern most building in the property, entered doors through east side, which went directly into the room which is where the shooting took place. The doors were unlocked.

Time elapsed from when he got into this argument and left and where was his wife?

Yesterday, we had info from anywhere from 10-30 minutes. Will follow up.

    Grudge against his co-workers?

    Not aware of that.

Guns were legally purchased. 2 handguns by him, rifles were not. All 4 guns were legally purchased.

    Record?

Had no criminal record we were aware of.

    Getaway car? Utah license plate?

Black Ford Expedition. Rental car. He rented it 3-4 days ago and was to be returned yesterday. That's why it had Utah plates but was rented locally.

    Identify all victims?

Throughout the course of the day, we'll release the names of the victims. We'll put those names out fairly soon.

Our officers did not have body cams, not sure about the other agencies.

Not sure where the child is. They had a 6-month old child.

Is this in the name of religion or part of larger group or larger plot?

Amount of pre-planning, amount armor & weapons he had there was a mission here. We know that. We don't know if this was the intended target or something that triggered him to do this immediately.

    In touch with international subjects?

Still working through that. There was international travel. They both came in the US in July of 2014. Since had a baby. He is a US person. She is still here on a K1 Visa.

    Communication with terrorism subjects?

    Still working through that.

How long had he been out of the coutry?

He came back to the US in July of 2014 as I said earlier. I do not know the countries he visited. We know he did go to Pakistan and she is here on a K1 Visa under Pakistan passport.

    Saudi Arabia?

Don't have all the facts yet.

    Why did she get involved?

    We don't know enough.

    IEDs found, special or amateurish?

Not an expert. Obviously some level of sophistication.

Any type of evidence linkage between designs of IEDs and magazines?

    We're looking into it.

    SBPD:

He was not on the radar screen of our agency.

How did you determine he was the suspect?

There was, we got a couple of tips, following up on different leads. This was one. Where that came from was another person in the building that knew him who identified him by name who expressed concern of his behavior prior to the event and way he left. Following up on that, we discovered he rented a vehicle similar to suspect description. We followed up on addresses. The rest is...we saw how that played out.

There were things, as officers approached, that gave them concern. There were concern that they did not want to go in immediately. We used the FBI tactical team for that. The initial officers did not make entry.

Nothing definitive we have that points to a motive.

When this happened, the sprinklers in the room had gone off. One of the rounds fired hit the fire sprinklers, set them off, flooded the room. Then we discovered the explosive devices in the room. ... Sheriff plans to release the names as we are able to make notifications.

    Detainee?

That person was seen running away from the scene. People abandoned their cars and ran the other direction when gun fire started. Not sure if he was one of those. He was not involved. He is not a suspect or person of interest. He did have a misdemeanor warrant and was booked on that warrant.

    IEDs?

In the middle of the room on a table, in a bag.

They opened fire first, rounds came out of the back of the car from the female. The male, who was the driver, got out and fired from the street as well.

    No suspects in custody?

    Correct.

Heard the rumor. No evidence they were wearing GoPro cameras.

That's not my definition of terrorism. Using acts of violence to terrorize people is terrorism to me regardless of the technical definition.

I agree with this and hesitate to label the attack without knowing the motive. Just murdering people isn't terrorism. Murdering people because you want to terrify other people is terrorism. If this was personal and he just wanted to see these people dead, that's just a mass murder. If he's trying to send a message, then terrorism fits. Either way, it sucks.

My other thought on this though is that terrorism has its own gravitational pull. That even if the mass murder was fundamentally selfish (personal revenge or whatever), having a bigger movement to plug into like the jihad makes it convenient for the murderer to begin assigning or even ascribing to larger motives. In other words, murderers becoming jihadis instead of jihadis becoming murderers. It doesn't matter in the end really. If they find a jihadi link, it'll be a feather in the cap for ISIS and AQ and another political football in the presidential race, and the fatalities will still be dead.

"Tactical Gear" is really just clothes that are dark and hold a ton of stuff. Should we track cargo pants?

Cargo pants, Uggs, and Crocs are at least 90% of the reason that violence exists in the world.

A journalist was arrested in the Philippines for body armor. I don't think it should be regulated obviously but many countries do. If body armor isn't made primarily for self defense I don't know what is.

    can't make this up.

Our dunce in the White House just recorded a message telling the country that we are safe against an Paris-style attack.

This comment is almost as bad as the one he made the morning of the Paris attacks where he indicated ISIS was "contained".

Total dumbass and clueless idiot. He's turning into our old friend the Iraqi Information minister during the Iraq war.
