Rockets bench had its best game of the season. It wasn't close. Most telling stat: Rockets outscored Pels by 23 with Lawson on the floor.

I don't understand why you don't just dress Howard and throw him in if capela fouls out in crunch time? Why would that be so hard I don't ****ing get it. To try and save his averages?

He will play even better as a starter and primary ball handler.

Ty was +23 last night. His defensive rating was 82.3 per 100 possessions and his offensive rating was 121.7.

I'm still on board with starting Ty, but we're going to see more consistency and effort from both him and Harden before that happens. The past 2 games have been a step in the right direction, but as Ty said himself, he's still figuring out his role.

At the end of the day, there is only so much time Harden isn't actually on the court. If we're going to be successful in the playoffs, when Harden will likely get 40+ mins a game, Ty and James are going to have to learn how to play together. I'm all for keeping their minutes staggered...I think we need to have one of James/Ty on the floor at all times, but even then, there is going to be a significant amount of time spent with both of them on the floor together. The only way for them to gel is to actually play real in-game minutes together.

Last night's game was very difficult to watch. Playing the Pels, a worse team than us, at home, with the Pels on the end of a back-to-back. Both teams looked like they were playing in gravy. Sloppy basketball throughout.

    Stupid:

    1. James Harden defending Eric Gordon and Tyreke Evans while Ariza was hanging out on Alonzo Gee. Laughable.

    2. Terrence isoing on Anthony Davis REPEATEDLY and attempting to finish. Wasn't successful one time. Just plain terrible.

    3. JBB's insistence on playing double bigs all night long when both Capela and Dwight got into foul trouble. He kept going to Terrence. Terrence with either Dwight or Capela is a proven loser. Yet JBB keeps trying to fool around with different perimeter combinations to make the DH/TJ and CC/TJ lineups work. We were playing one of the worst teams in the league, at home, on the second night of a back-to-back and if Lawson hadn't broken out, we'd be sitting on another L.

4, I think I saw one pick-and-roll between Howard/Harden all night long. While we constantly were in half-court sets and doing nothing but throwing the ball around aimlessly and chucking 3's.

    5. Ariza attempting to play playmaker by driving and dishing. All he does is put our bigs in bad position to finish and in great position to get another turnover because he constantly throws the ball at their feet in a crowd. Please stop already.

    6. Brewer once again going 1 on 3 or 1 on 4 at the rim multiple times. Just terrible decision making by him.

    7. Officiating was just awful. They were as bad and as careless as the players on both teams were. Players don't care. Officials for sure didn't care about how they looked in this one. Too many missed/bogus calls to count.

    Positives:

    1. Lawson showed us just small glimpses of what he is capable of offensively. (He still need to be handed the basketball around 80% of the possessions he is out there for.)

    2. Brewer gave us a few nice defensive plays with the steals and drawn charges. We needed every one of those plays to beat one of the worst teams in the league.

    =============================================

This was not a good win. This was a win by a team that is basically a .500 team at best.

Look, I get they want to rest Howard and all... but why in God's name are you resting him against a DIVISIONAL RIVAL???

Hope this means D-Mo is coming back sooner than we think.

Marcus Thorton's catch and shoot ability would be the best pairing with Ty Lawson handling the ball. The question is, for the betterment of the team, is Harden willing to come off the bench a couple a games?
