Red Sox have more resources and played last year with two or three Matt Dominguez's. A lot of talent on that team if they chalk up Ramirez and Sandoval as 120 million dollars of dead money or those two decide to play.

People here complain about Gattis and Carter....

They made a big mistake on Hanley, as an infielder his bat works, not as a LF

Ridiculous man! Keuchel will get 200 plus if this is the case. I don't see the Astros paying that much.

I've only started following this team 3 years ago, casually the first year so I'll need some clarification. I've been reading a lot of Astros fans on other boards saying that our ownership will not go for a huge payroll because he's cheap.

I thought our low cap space was more of a product of the tank mode this team was in the last several years.

I think most of us expect the Astros to be fiscally sound, they will be hesitant to give out titanic contracts, and we will likely never have a top 5 payroll.

However we won't continue to be a low spending club as we move forward, I expect we will eventually be in the 7-14 range payroll wise. We having been increasing payroll every year. And yes the extreme low payroll was a by product of super tank mode.

Strange to me that they could have no interest in keeping him yet be worried about him staying in the division at the same time.

This is what I was expecting...

I always thought Keuchel was going to be at least a 150 Mil pitcher and wait till our golden boy Correa is on the free Market.. :(

Correa is going to command at least 225-250Mil..Look how young and impressive he is already.

Price to BOS means Papi likely stays. Thought Ortiz was a possibility at DH for us.

He's not a FA. Did you think Boston was going to trade David Ortiz going into his retirement season?

McCullers for Ken Giles? I hope Luhnow hung up the phone on the Phillies. That's just redonkulous.

Gotta love the Phillies. They take bigger swings than Springer.

That said, Giles is pretty valuable and they should get a lot for him....just not club controlled SP for club controlled RP.

pure speculation, but I feel like a Marisnick - Teheran swap works for both clubs.

would be sick. Though typically it has been the Braves who rehab pitchers back to their once-prominent days. It is a bit concerning that he fell off from his early success while there.

Marisnick is the perfect bench guy.

I'd rather move Tucker, and I assume he has a bigger return

Yeah. I'm not sure where exactly Teheran's trade value is, given his subpar year. Nonetheless it would seem to make sense for both clubs. I'd love to hear what an ATL fan thinks about it, but I don't see the Braves getting an offer for Teheran that blows them out of the water.

I agree, I'd rather move Tucker as well, but I think Marisnick actually has more value. In 2015, Marisnick had a .8 oWAR and 1.6 dWAR. Tucker had a .8 oWAR and -.9 dWAR.

Afterwards, Luhnow talked to the Cubs about Chris Carter. Luhnow brought up Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber.

Marisnick has more value as a starter. The Astros can not exploit his full value, while some other team can and will pay for that opportunity.
