They're not wrong when they say it was a different group. Taken literally, significant parts were played by: DMo Pablo Prigioni Josh Smith Papanikolaou Tarik Black Joey Dorsey Nick Johnson Papa, Dorsey & Black played almost 25 games each putting in about 15 minutes per game. Nothing to scoff at. Most importantly: they helped give the Rockets an underdog mentality like the 08-09 team that we love so much. So yes, it is a different group to an extent. Still not enough of an excuse to not have chemistry and a good start to the season. We just have brats & egos on this team who need to be held in check.
Very interesting read from a lot of people... This is not the same team.. Not so much from the physical stand point but from the mental stand point and the approach to the game. Not only from the players but also from the coaches. We can all see some players who are not giving their all and who look to be only worried about their game and not the team.. There is very little ball movement or movement period by the players.. No effort or very little effort on the defensive end. I don't have a problem with an assistant being promoted to coach the team.. The coach that won us two championships was promoted the same way. The issue that I have is that we are doing exactly what the previous coach was doing.. There is no change in personnel.. Please don't say Ty is not starting, because McHale had stated he was going to make that change before he was let go... There is no change to the offense.. No experimenting with inserting a change to the starting line up.. No change to which players come off the bench... and the results are no change in the attitude or the win/lost record. So in essence this is not the same group.. Not the same group that was hungry to win.. Not the same group who had the next man up attitude when someone went down... Not the same group that would go out every night and played team ball and had a chip on their shoulder. The change has to start up top and it has to go flow down hill.. T_Man
The Rockets have been blessed by having some very good coaches their history. You can only let so many of them go because there are only so many in existence. When you get rid of enough of them, what's left available are only bad and mediocre ones.
Im too lazy to scroll through.....but did Clutch ever post his "thoughts later on" regarding this? Id really like to get his take on this.
Just re-watched the MEM game. The conspiracy theory that Harden is not looking for Howard but only Capela is just not evident in this game. Sorry guys. Howard has trouble getting open, but when he does, Harden is looking for him. I'm going to re-watch the other games since McHale. I'm pretty sure we'll see the same thing; ie., Harden is not icing out Howard. As a response to my attempt at breathing objectivity into this thread, I suspect some will stretch the conspiracy theory further by saying, "Well, Howard is not open enough, because Harden is dictating the offense so Howard is marginalized and has no way to get open." But that would be a LOF-esque argument. Best to clear your mind and steer clear of LOF type conspiracy theories.
Clutch's take was interesting. If he is right, then there's hope. It's a lot easier to fix if the problem is Lawson and not Harden. However, Lawson being the reason why this team is struggling is quite puzzling. We didn't have him last season and we did quite well. He's not playing well. He is hardly playing now. That should be just like last season. The only key guy we lost was Smith. The only way it could make sense would be if Lawson is not only playing poorly but also a locker room distraction.
Lawson just can't be effective unless he has the ball in his hands it appears. And this team doesn't play defense as a unit and that is killing us as well.
It's puzzling because you are actually putting words into the mouth of Terry and Bev's single sentence. "Not the same group" is not necessarily an indictment of a single person causing the team to struggle. I really can't see how "Lawson is the reason we are struggling" is a definitive interpretation of that single sentence, even despite the context of the sentence coming after talking about Lawson. And even those who speculate it's someone else, the point I'm making is that I don't see it meaning that Terry and Bev are telling us we are struggle due to *any* one person on the team this year, or someone who left over the summer. It can just mean, "Hey media, we are not the same group as last year, so quit saying that. We came into the season with hopes of transforming into a different group, but are having problems doing that as a team, because as a collective, we don't have high Team IQ. It's turning out to be hard for us to establish a new group identity."

Harden is a minor problem but all would be better if he just were a good two way player, I'd give away 5.2 points of his points total.....(around 26-28 per game) If he can score 22.5 and stop 8 possessions a game that would be grand
You know what, he does not have to "ice out" DH12. DH12 weakness is that he isn't an offensive player and he was only a good offensive player for couple of years in Orlando Now he also isn't the Best Defender of this league type of player anymore, he is just a good defensive dude without much offense. His help to this team and Harden is limited. Those are his issues. Don't get me talking about Harden's issues. They are a dozen.
I was just responding the Clutch's take. Clutch thinks Terry and Bev were talking about the addition of Lawson. Of course Clutch clearly qualified it by saying that it's just his opinion, not some factual information.
