No, the problem is not who the point guard is. It's how James Harden plays. If we let him handle the ball all the time, then we are not going to win a lot of games. James is not built to set up the offense for the team. Yes he can get assists, but that's not the same as running the point guard position. He is not a point guard. This team needs a point guard, and we need James Harden to score the ball. Unless the coaches understand this and fix it we will never get over the hump.

Which is easier right now, convincing Harden to change the way he plays or obtain a player that compliments the current way he plays.

Initially, it feels like the former....but I am not so sure.

Harden is capable of playing a different style, but Morey built a team to play a certain style and Mchale coached that specific style. I hope Bickerstaff moves away from the over reliance of the 3pt shot

Watched Rubio again last night. The man's game simply can't be measured by a box score. Specifically what he does defensively. He is one of the top perimeter defenders in the league, especially at the PG spot. I think he was something like +21 for the game. Every time Minny took him out Philly caught up and passed them. Then they would bring in Rubio and all of a sudden Philly starts turning it over and Minny made run after run with Rubio in the game. Those aren't coincidences. He turns the opponents perimeter game into total chaos with his D.

And the whole things is he's playing with a bunch of kids in a half-court set up system that is archaic by NBA standards. They very rarely run-and-gun. They mostly walk it up and run sets. The system does not favor him offensively. Yet he runs it for them and does nothing but help them win games.

Rubio would STILL be a great help here and would turn our D into a nasty machine with Trevor beside him and Dwight behind him.

We are building around Harden so the PG only needs 10/2/6/2/2, I think Rubio can fill that role, since no else is now.

Rubio is a loser. He couldn't even make the playoffs with Love.

When you watch the games, it is as plain as day that the defenses give him no respect. Look at how horrible Kevin Martin is shooting (36.5 FG% and 25% 3s, unprecedented in his career), since the defenses don't have to guard Rubio. It is very hard to run an effective offense when your PG is the worst shooting PG in the history of the game, and simply can't get to the rim, either, like Rondo and Kidd could.

And people act like his defense is at the level of Rondo and Kidd...that's just laughable.

Still the most overrated player in the NBA. It's so weird people won't just forget about him as a Rocket.

LOLs at using a game against the winless 76ers as a revival game for talking about him.

God, why is this thread on the hot topics. Rubio is the only guy in the NBA who could lower the Rocket's 3 point percentage.

And he has already lowered Kevin Martin's 3s to 25% this year, and 36.5% overall. Look it up.

He would be an interesting player and would force Harden to change his game. I would take a chance on him.
