Call me crazy but I feel like this team is on the verge of a winning streak, their shot looked much improved and they had much better ball movement. I see Harden playing better defense and actually had a couple of very nice defensive plays, he's staying with his man more and isn't ball-watching as much, his post defense looks pretty good also, Capela is forming into a stud, and at some point (hopefully soon) I have a feeling Lawson is going to get it going, Dwight is almost cleared to play back-to-backs and Bev. and D-mo will help this team immensely, I just feel like this they're going to put it together in a few games, by the end of this yr. they will be 5-6 seed, I'm calling it now. Morey & Les are serious about shaking things up to win, it was good to see Les pissed off over this team playing so deplorably, no way he wants this team to tank, we're in a win now mode.
Spurs in 96-97 were a 59 win team the year before. Started out 3-13..DRob came back for 6 games in which they beat the best team in the league at the time, the 21-3 Houston Rockets. They then shut down Robinson and tanked. End result-Tim Duncan and 2 decades of winning. #TankforBenSimmons
What's the difference between option 2 and option 3? Is OP trying to split the No vote? Why not add another option: Morey can still trade for some real 3pt shooters. It's not over
Dont worry guys..as they say. The season doesnt start till christmas.. Hopfully we arnt 5-30 by then..
Absolutely not.. As long as they keep games close and play with effort like Cleveland last year then anything can happen. I'm not the only one here who thinks that we will have a solid winning streak at some point this season. I've got to wonder, though.. Does having Dwight one night and out the next night help? Like everyone is saying now, consistency matters. We practically have the same team last year minus D Mo, Kostas, P Bev... But we have Terry and an improving Capela and Thornton. If we don't have someone as big as Dwight for a stretch then the guys can mentally prepare themselves for doing what they have to do. Couple that with Lawson's poor fit next to Harden and this might have been the source of our woes. Followed by Harden's poor defense
I'm sure they can get into the playoffs, I'm not worried about the regular season. I just know that a team that has a championship mentality would never allow this to go on for this long so we're getting bounced from the playoffs for sure and if we're not getting a ring then even a finals appearance doesn't interest me anymore. We have spent time, money, patience to get this team to where it is and these guys are squandering half a decade of fans waiting to become a contender. It's clear what's going on. Harden doesn't believe it's his role to play more defense than he's playing. The rest of the team and the coach disagree. In order to prove his point, he is turning into Stephon Marbury - holding the ball as long as it takes to get his stats so he can point at the scoreboard at the end of the night and claim he's playing his role on the team. This is destroying our ability to generate more overall team points and assists. It's total bull**** and frankly I'm on the brink of quitting on basketball entirely because of it. It's obvious this is not a fan sport anymore, these players and owners don't give a **** about fans as long as they keep buying tickets and league pass and gear. If fans got angry towards the team, the players would just think "I'm getting paid by Les and Adidas, don't care about the fans I just have to act like I do." This is a travesty and I keep thinking what could change it is if fans got directly involved with some kind of online campaign against this douchebaggery.
Could those of you that have sad yes please leave? If this fails, Morey is gone and we're probably looking at a 76er level of rebuilding. We haven't had a team this good on paper in, what, 20 years? I'm not giving up. Have people forgotten we have James Harden, one of the 3 or 4 players in the entire world capable of carrying nearly an entire team on his back? Unless he's hurt and we don't know it, he'll return to his career averages of 44% and 37%. He's at 38% and 27% right now, which means he's going to catch absolute fire sooner or later. We've seen him do it before and there's not a single reason to believe he won't do it again. Whether or not we're kidding ourselves on seriously contending with Golden State and San Antonio is a different story, but to believe we're finished? Unbelievable.
We'll need some tough trades but with things as uncertain now, unlikely well give up more draft picks. Shooting and the pf position isnt as bad as the lack of effort, intensity and awareness being displayed here. I'm hoping its curable... live by the beard, die by the beard.
This team is done. The firing of McHale was a desperate move. The hiring of McHale's 36 year old assistant was a very desperate move. The season is over, and Morey is quite likely gone, which is too bad because Les won't find anyone better. At this point you can worry about the Texans new QB in the draft or the Astros closer.... Because this group is done.
Probably the greatest stealth tanking job in history. Allegedly Robinson could have come back in March of that season, but by then they were hopeless and they saw Duncan was tearing it up in college. They smartly shut him down and got lucky in the lottery. I'm okay for stealth tanking if it means we can get a superstar.
There are a ton of things not going right, but the season hinges for me on whether we figure out the PF rotation, and whether Lawson figures out how to fit with the team. They need to either figure these two things out internally or find an alternate solution through trades. Otherwise, this ship keeps leaking and sinking, IMO.
what does "the season is over" even mean? does it mean that they cant possibly make the playoffs anymore? theyre 2 games out of the playoffs and 3 games out of 4th place with 68 games to play. not exactly insurmountable
season is over because we were supposed to be built to win the chip this year but we are nowhere close to that right now. ppl that picked #2&3 ideally like to watch a team struggle to get the 8th seed and rd1 exit.
