We Need Shooters pt 2 Targets: Mirza Teletovic (Suns) 38% from 3 can play stretch 4 and some 3 Mike Miller (Denver) 44% veteran championship pedegree Doug McDermott (Bulls) Mike Dunleavy (Bulls) Hollis Thompson (76ers) 40% from 3..Do us another favor Hinkie OJ Mayo (Bucks)
No to Belinelli. He's the same as Thornton. No D. I'd rather do something like Brewer, McDaniels, Terrence for Ryan Anderson, Alonzo Gee, Luke Babbitt straight up with us MAYBE throwing in a future second rounder. This move would give us a better defender and shooter than Brewer in Gee, a legit stretch-4 in Anderson, and a really good floor spread in Babbitt. Don't know if NO would do it or not. They get a young project in KJ out of the deal, they can take a gander at Terrence, and they can use Brewer in their system better than we can use him. Shrug. Note: This trade takes us out of the luxury tax too.
I thought about Dunleavy. But he's coming off back surgery and from what I'm hearing from the Bulls, Dunleavy is the guy they want back to play the wing along with that other kid.
O.J. Mayo is a sniper but he turns the ball over too much in relation to his steals and offensive rebounds and he doesn't play enough D to be a true 3&D guy. Don't want.
OJ Mayo isn't available. Also stop thinking about taking the Bulls wings. Snell Dunleavy and McDermott. They have a hole there and if you dont' give them another wing that can shoot they won't trade any of them. And McDermott is terrible defender both at the 3 and the 4 because he's slow laterally and can't get into good stance and he's weak (this is fixable). You can try to hide him but bad defender he is and there's no way around it.
Stretch-4's I'm interested in: Ryan Anderson Marvin Williams Omri Casspi Doug McDermott Danilo Gallinari Andrei Bargnani Sasha Kaun Jonas Jerebko Josh McRoberts Kris Humphries Patrick Patterson
I dont' think that Humphries can be called a stretch 4. Even with his improvement in the few games this season it's too early. However anyone knows what's his contract? If he doesn't expire then Wash could be interested in trading him for Jones. This way they can free more capspace to be more comfortamble with going after Durant while paying Beal. No comment about Bargnani ..how can you be interested in him bballholic?
I agree with dobro. You give this roster another month and if it's not working, blow it up and rebuild around Harden, DMo, and Capela. Also see what you have in Harrell, McDaniels and Dekker. Your main trade assets are going to be Dwight, TJones, Ariza. I think you'll have to trade Dwight to a team of his choosing. Ariza should fetch a good return from a team in contention and in need of a SF. You'll have several teams interested in TJones. You don't have a commitment to Lawson beyond this year, so it's not necessary to trade him. While I'd like to unload Brewer, it's not absolutely necessary. With the cap going up, you'll have plenty of room to do anything, even with Brewers contract. Only do it if it doesn't cost anything. I'd actually like to keep Beverley. He's a good fit next to Harden, and he's got a solid contract. With all the cap room you'll have next year, you can bring over Llull, Gentile and Todorovic. Beverley / Llull Harden / Gentile Brewer / McDaniels / Dekker DMo / Harrell Capela / Todorovic All that plus the picks/players you get for Dwight, Ariza and TJones should leave you in good shape. Obviously this isn't ideal, but it's nowhere close to the Nets.
I think you all underestimate how hard it is to find a good wing. If we trade Ariza we will be hard pressed to find another wing that can shoot and defend and it will be much expensive. Sure we can trade him and get good assets but we won't get such a good 3+d wing and the market has none of them available. It is the story of most teams around the league that have either wings that can shoot or wings that can defend but hardly do both. And they pay them at a premium price.
Trade with OKC: Dwight + Brewer + Dekker for Durant + Adams + Collison Assuming Durant indicates he wants to leave. OKC gets something of value in return, Houston moves past the Dwight era and has Adams + Capela to test out and see if they can step up.
Superstars never get traded for fair value, always get something worse coming back. It's about KD letting OKC know where he wants to go - and if he wants to come to Houston, well, at least we can give them something back? Having a big guy to control the paint, play off Westbrook, and who can protect Kanter, would kind of fit what they are doing right now.
Well the key is does Durant want to come here. He would have to work his butt off to get that championship with this team. On the other hand, he could just shoot wide open 3s for days in Oakland.
Thinking outside the box but why not just move Harden to PG? Would be like the reverse of what Larry Brown did with Iverson. Trade for a true 3&D 2 guard and hope DMo comes back soon.
So you think that Durant will demand his way out to go ONLY to Houston of all the teams in the league?
Humphries is taking as many shots from 3 as he's taking inside of 3. He's become a stretch-4/5 flying under the radar. Frankly, I doubt if Washington is interested in moving him because with his floor spacing he's a better player for a team than Nene is. I'd like to have him. He's a plus rebounder and shooter. Bargnani is a little bit of desperation and a little bit of knowing we could acquire him for a little bit of nothing. He is a face-up outside player that has a multi-faceted offensive game, can shoot it or put it on the floor and create with it against other bigs. No, he's not a banger. But he's no longer the prima donna first pick either. He's simply a guy on a minimum contract. Bargs would be a significant upgrade to Terrence because of his offensive skill set. So....yeah...I'd send the Knicks a late second rounder for Bargs in a second.
Haven't followed Toronto or Washington, so I'm not sure the value they place on these guys right now, but how realistic would this be? Beverley/Lawson/Terry Harden/Thornton Ariza/James Johnson/Temple Dmo/Patterson/ Howard/Capela In- Patterson, Temple, Johnson Out- KJ, Dekker, Harrell, Brewer, TJ I know Johnson can't shoot..but he can score inside and turn layups into dunks. We need his aggressiveness. Temple is shooting the three well and, IIRC, was always a solid defender. PatPat, is well, PatPat..
