IF it is true that Howard and Harden aren't getting along these days. I would do this trade: http://espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=prb7bmz
Nice, I hope NC is treating you well man.(I live in Greensboro) I consider the Hornets as my second home team/east team. 1) I do feel Marvin can help the squad and can give much need relief for Ariza, but I dont feel he is someone that will help us tremendously tho. His contract is what will make him a good trade asset if I am Morey. That money coming off the books could be huge. 2) The more I watch the Hornets this season I do have a feeling Al could be traded, or just let go. I think around All-Star Break we could have a better idea if he is available. Depending how there season go they could want to off load him. Cause really the Hornets need rebounding and Shot Blocking desperately. The other night I noticed Clifford had to keep reminding Al not to go out of the lane to double, they respect each other but there seems to be some tension there especially on the defensive end. 3) There is no way I see the Hornets not signing Batum to a Max Contract. He is starting to look like the face of the franchise IMO along with Kemba/MKG. If im the Hornets this off season it looks they will have to decide with either Al or Batum, re signing them both could be a mistake. More so Al then Batum.
We have enough divas and personality issues. A strong leader and fierce competitor, like a Billups or a Sura type is the pg we need
I would trade mcw for lawson l would throw one second too and trashquez. (Mcw is better in defence than Bev). But sadly the team wont.
what I think we need is a solid PG to come off the bench and handle the ball while not being a liability. I'm done with Lawson. I'd look at: Beno Udrih, Jammer Nelson, Jarrett Jack A PF who can put up consistent numbers both starting, and off the bench (when DMo returns) I'd look at: Thad Young, Taj Gibson A knockdown 3pt shooter who can provide a spark off the bench when needed I'd look at: Eric Gordon, Jeremy Lamb, Aaron Afflalo, Devin Booker Houston gets: Gordon, Jack, Young Brooklyn gets: Holiday, Anderson New Orleans gets: Lawson, Joe Johnson, Jones, Houston 1st Bev/Jack/Terry Harden/Gordon/Thornton Ariza/Brewer/KJ/Dekker DMo/Young/Harrell Howard/Capela We improve in 3pt shooting and reliability in our depth. Two things we struggle with.
No way! I'm in Greensboro also. Moved here in April for work. Small world. The Batum idea is contingent upon Charlotte hitting rock bottom and Batum's numbers leveling out. To me, he's always going to be a 14-5-5 type of player. Whether or not that's worth a max contract with this new inflated cap remains to be seen. He's not going to keep dropping 25-30 points a night, that's for sure. Either way, I like his game for a number of reasons. He has all the characteristics of glue guy. Unselfish, smart, versatile, defends well and can contribute in a variety of ways on the offensive end. He can play uptempo. He can hit the open jumper. He can put the ball on the floor and create for others. Bottom line: he would be a safe addition. He's not going to hurt you in any way, shape or form. But like you said, this discussion is all for not if he continues to shine in Charlotte and looks like a guy they simply have to retain.
The team looks like they're making more of an effort to move the ball. Good to see. Getting much better looks.
So how does this work with being hard caped? Can we even make a significant move when guys like Brewer, Bev, Lawson, Thornton are eligible to be traded?
Batum's not the answer. 1. He's playing well for them. They'll want a king's ransom for him. 2. He's in his contract year. After he signs he'll tail off just like last time he signed his first big deal. We need a guy like Doug McDermott. A guy that can play stretch 4, can shoot lights out, and can handle at the 4 and create some, and is a smart enough defender to not give up the baseline and funnel his man to Dwight in the middle. Still on his rookie deal. Super smart. Would probably cost an arm and a leg too but he's a much better risk than Batum. Guys we've got to find a true stretch-4. We need to get at least 2 big time true 3&D players on this roster. We'd be much better off going after Marvin Williams than Batum. But it's gonna be difficult to get him unless Charlotte falls out of contention. Another guy we should try to acquire: Danillo Gallinari. His game, facing up, spotting up....fits us.
Mcdermott plays the three and is a bad defender.BAD. and he cost the bulls two middle firsts and they have a gaping hole at sf so good luck in getting him. And gallo as expected is beasting and will continue to beast as long as hes healthy and he is very probable to get traded. For nothing the rockets have to offer. Top10 pick worth.
