C'mon people. All this doom and gloom. As long as we stay healthy to peak at the end of the year, we are fine. Obviously, if Les has given Lurch the ax this early, it means this was in the planning a long time ago with the idea of a big noise set up to step right in. All this stuff about Morey being on the hot seat is just crazy. He has performed miracles to put together a roster with so much talent, so quickly, with so few assets...no rebuild...reload. I think he might be the only GM that could have pulled this off. Les has been able to have his cake and eat it too. Morey was given a seemingly impossible task by Les and has accomplished it. We are positioned well....lots of talent. DMo will come back and more than fill the hole at the 4.... Ty will get integrated. We will have a proven winner come in and coach us. And we have flexibilty to get stronger. So, we're starting slow with guys looking bad.....IT'S EARLY! Chill as this comes into fockass....
you're describing/hoping for the best scenario. it could happen. but right now there're more reasons to concern than hope. change all the will's to could's in your post, then i'd agree.
Our superstar barely lost mvp, then lost in playoffs to the guy that won mvp and went on to win championship. Curry apparently worked on his game in the off season and came back even better, even after mvp and championship. Harden came back out of shape and off his game, that says a lot to me about the championship possibilities with harden being our leader. It saddens me that our superstar got out worked this offseason by the guy that beat him and tells me that hes not championship material.
"Ty will get integrated" isn't gonna happen by just playing the way we've been and hoping he gets comfortable, the offense needs to be restructured completely.
Pretty sure the implication there is that Ty will adjust. I don't think we can expect our entire offense to cater to him....he needs to find a way to fit, and adapt.
Adding Ty is useless if we have the same offense as last season, if he isn't going to handle the ball more we might as well cut him now. He isn't even handling the ball when Harden is on the bench, something is wrong.
^^ off-the-ball movement is a required aspect today for any team that wants to win a title. it doesn't just apply to harden or other stars. the over-reliance on iso's by star players usually and almost certainly doesn't get you far.
if the replacement coach doesn't come in till the offseason, i think it will be a mistake. we need to go through some playoff games (even if only 1 round) this year w/ the longterm coach to get everything straight. our aim should be to get all our ducks alligned for the 2017 finals
A disgruntled player on another team will want out and we'll scoop him up before or at the deadline. It's like clockwork.
Le$ is not going to pay $6-10m/yr for a top coach *and* pay McHale's salary. Did you not read my full breakdown of this? Breaking Down the Salary Implications of Waiving McHale Le$ will give JB the entire year.
Other than players perhaps tuning McHale out, the "failure to evolve the offense" is one of the biggest reasons for the coaching change. This everyone stand around while Harden goes 1 on 5 at the top of the business has got to stop. This team only wins a title if their offense has Harden/Lawson attacking the basket with weakside motion and cutters and pick and roll. Lots of movement and passing. Otherwise, good defenses like the Spurs and Warriors will clamp down on the Rockets stagnant offense.
Given your recent track record...hate to say it but unfortunately, I now fully expect Morey to be fired and for us to miss the playoffs.
