Except that Mavs fan is completely serious and this is an extremely momentary lapse of decorum. If you let the Rockets affect you like this for more than a few minutes in any given week/month, basketball is WAY too important in your life.
Well, it does bother me for more a few minutes in any given week or month. I care, hard not to. But ... that's probably it no more than few min a day.
You're absolutely right. But you know what I mean- you know those people that obsess over sports- it's just not that important in the grand scheme of things. I mean, if the Rockets won the championship this year, of course we would all go crazy. Most of us remember what it was like in 1994 and 1995. But after a few days, life goes back to normal. And if the Rockets win it all, it's not going to make an appreciable difference in our lives in terms of our relationships, our careers, or pretty much our outlook on life. Those that are mostly naysayers in their lives, they'd be the first ones going "Yeah, but I doubt that we'll repeat" shortly afterwards if we won it all. That's just how some people are. Doesn't mean you can't root and shout like crazy. Just means that it should be given its proper perspective. It's nice, though, to have a cathartic moment every once in a while.
