Logical posters in the GARM and hangout consistently lose their mind when they wander in here.

Self-victimization at its finest, just after Muslims bombed and murdered hundreds of innocent people in Paris and Beirut.

OP, your title is a bit misleading. You left out "refugees".

I think there are a few similarities in America's isolationist NIMBY attitudes from then and now, but... there were never a shocking and growing number of Jews who joined a death cult, armed themselves to the hilt, beheaded people, shot up theaters full of innocents, used sex slaves, and called themselves the only true Jews. Maybe a few radical zionists who you could count on one hand. I mean, ... other than that, great comparison, OP. I am pro Syrian refugees in America, without a doubt, but the comparison is poor.

(Ben Carson, of course, says there should have been such a group of Jews. Then they could have avoided the Holocaust. Cry out loud from the stupidity.)

the better comparision is the Japanese in WW2.

The Japanese regime attacked America. The Japanese military kept sex slaves as "comfort women". There was a death cult that led to the Rape of Nanking among other atrocities, including a contest where soldiers competed to kill "100 Chinese the fastest". They believed in their ethnical superiority to all other Asians. Japanese war criminals vivisected Chinese civilians and starved/marched Allied POWs to death. What Japan did in WW2 is orders of magnitude worse than what ISIS is doing now (though I'm sure ISIS would love to get there).

People are already rushing to do to Syrian refugees what America hysterically did to Japanese citizens as a result. It was wrong then. It is wrong now.

whoda thunk that all it would take is an attack on foreign soil for a mainstream American politician to endorse internment of Japanese citizens during WW2 as a shiny example of what to do. seriously.

This isn't about widows or orphans or bigotry.

It's about terrorists trying to infiltrate this country to slaughter Americans, and denying them the ability to do so.

The left can't even argue in good faith. They have to ascribe nefarious motives to people with legitimate concerns.

99% of the immigrants are just trying to get out of bad situation. Same with jews. There has always been anti immigration sentiments whether with the Irish, Catholics, Italians, Chinese, etc. However the irony is this is a nation of immigrants. Every generation that comes in forgets that.

If the terrorists wanted to come in why don't they fly to Mexico and sneak in that way, or get tourist visa?

I agree with you. But it's probably harder to go through Mexico and get a tourist visa

Bull****. An extensive vetting process can solve the 'trojan horse' issue.

It's not a coincidence that my facebook news feed is lit up with anti-refugee rhetoric by the very same people who have had bigoted views of ALL Muslims all along. A large portion of the 'anti-refugee' camp do have 'nefarious motives' and that motive is that they hate anything that isn't similar to them. It's really that simple.

Hey, let's all allow these refugees to stay in Syria... homeless, starving, injured... just waiting for the warmth of ISIS recruitment.

There are ways of vetting without using databases. Good ol' interrogation and story collaboration can work wonders.

Weren't the Nazis and many of the Jewish victims all Germans too? So the German Jews were "self-victimizing" after other Germans murdered thousands of innocent people in Germany and Eastern Europe?

The word zealot comes from a violent Jewish cult that targeted Greeks and Romans to end Roman occupation.

Quite a fitting analogy OP. Give or take a few thousand years and Muslims can hope to get where the old Jews are.

Currrnt process already vet immigrants. Every immigrants have to be personally interviewed by immigration agents. And no, its not a 1min chat.
