He came here when the roster was a mess and dealing with injured stars. He was told by Les to rebuild but keep winning which in a lot of cases is hard to do but Morey somehow found a way. If it gets out that his job is in jeopardy I could see teams throwing out feelers to Morey, and if he sees a better opportunity elsewhere I wouldn't be surprised if Morey just left.
Have GM's always made the decisions on coaches? Seems like that is not as obvious of a fit. GM's handle the personnel. The coaches figure out how to do the best possible with that personnel. Just because you know personnel doesn't mean you know coaching so well. It's different of course, but it's like putting your Procurement VP over manufacturing operations. They are different functions.
Morey just spoke on 790. Said Dwights been the only player that's been good. It's not all on James, others have been bad
Basically James. Made it seem like they didn't better themselves in the offseason after having a good year last year.
I don't know why, but Morey just has no credibility to me in addressing athletes getting better physically.
well Capella seems to have worked this summer. But definitely Dwight is the one who has brought it in the most. Good for Morrey calling out the players publicly!! I'm so happy that both owner and GM are ready to call those lazy slackers out.
The two biggest reasons we got to the WCF were Josh Smith and Corey Brewer and one is gone the other one is sucking.
THe same thing you and other no basketball foresight people said about McHale At the end of the day Morey has to deliver, He can't stand on what he has done. He has zero success to show for it
Nothing happens without Les' approval. He was the main one on camera singing Mchale's praises on how he's a great coach and deserved the 3 yr extension, blah blah blah. He's needs to look in the mirror too.
If it's championship or bust...about 90% of NBA personnel members wouldn't have jobs. Morey has assembled a good roster. One yourself said, in spite of how awful you thought McHale was, should win upwards of 60+ games and a title. You can't say that, then turn around and want to fire the guy who assembled the roster because of a bad start to the season, or else you clearly just pulled that prediction out of nowhere. Morey got rid of the coach, and it was the right move. It's up to him to find a better one. No doubt about it. But if the standards are championship or bust, about 85-90% of NBA personnel members shouldn't have jobs. Morey is one of the better GM's. He's proven so. A bad 10 game stretch after a trip to the Conference Finals does not undue that so quickly.
To add on... That's not to say Morey is blameless. He's just not the problem. He needs to fix some things about both his roster and his philosophy, but that doesn't mean he should be fired so quickly.
