Lol, you're in typical homer denial like you always are... this is reality giving you a b**** slap in the face.
I don't have any idea if that's true or not but if it were it sure worked out well last year and I don't think anyone believes it was our coaching that got us to the WCF last year. As to your main point, Morey seemed very humbled in his press conference as I think any GM would with the year we're having, considering the talent we have, and having had to fire a coach with whom I assume he was close. I do some theatre work with Daryl (he's on my theatre's board and we're working on a project together) and I know him to be incredibly flexible and all about doing what it takes to solve a problem. But I don't think anyone needs to know him to know that about him. I think you can look at his track record and know he is about winning and I think you can listen to him talk or just look at what he's done and know that he is always acutely dissatisfied with how things are going because nothing is good enough but a championship. And nobody is harder on Morey than Morey. I don't think there's anything he'd be unwilling to do in order to right the ship.
Never said that. I just thing the 3s, lay ups, and free throws isn't as effective as once thought. I suppose we could make moves though
There isn't a GM out there I would want to be in Morey's spot other than Morey. If anyone can get us out of this predicament, it's Morey.
I don't think Daryl Morey should be fired. He's good at evaluating assets, aggressively seeking upgrades, and getting the better end of deals. However: There's a good case to be made that the 2015-16 Rockets, so far, are a textbook demonstration of the limits of analytics. A team that should be tremendous on paper, but on the court it doesn't work. And if you start to enumerate what's missing--chemistry, fit, effort, leadership, character, pride, intelligence--it's practically a catalogue of what analytics don't capture. So maybe this is a moment for Morey to reevaluate the scope of what he's doing and consider what other kinds of judgment (and what other kinds of decisionmakers) he needs in order to put together the whole package.
Im tired of the insecurities. If Morey leaves he'll get snatched. Who gives a ****? All I care is about this team. You can go follow Morey alk the way to the pits of hell
Maybe...but you could also argue everything would solve itself if you replaced Harden or he changed his attitude. For the most part anyway, I still think they need better shooting.
This is the issue. A Rockets' fan shouldn't care what happens to Maury once he's gone. The problem is that these so-called fans of the Rockets are in reality fans of Maury first and foremost. Many of them have admitted that in this thread.
Yes, but he let's Morey run the team as the GM, gives him control. I figured that if something is not working and it was MOREY that hired McHale and recommended the extension that he would probably be held accountable. I don't think he will fire him, that would be a mistake IMHO, but maybe he takes a more active roll or brings in a basketball guy to help Morey make coaching calls? Dunno, but I am not surprised that he is angry, and if you are GM, and this is the situation you created, you are going to be held responsible. Not surprised - at all. DD
in the business of managing money we have a saying that 'speculation is an art', which essentiall means that number fundamentals, background homework, and technical charts can all only take you so far. and after that it is experience/feeling/judgement which guide the best decision makers. morey is on record as saying that coaching doesn't have that big of an effect on a team's performance, perhaps plus or minus 5 games a season. i hope he no longer believes that
Les is stupid if he gets rid of Morey. He will get offers immediately. Les needs to chill out. Billionaires like to get what they want, but a championship NBA team is something you just can't purchase simply. See the Microsoft guy or Cuban or the Russian guy and the Nets.
