Well guys like Thibs and Brooks will not negotiate with a team that has a current coach that isn't an interim coach. It is considered poor form and especially Thibs, is big on the coaching fraternity. The Rockets have to say they will go with Bickerstaff the rest of the season because they do not know who they can or cannot get. They cannot say they will only have Bickerstaff short term or the players will completely fold. This move, the timing of it, doesn't seem like a move Morey would make. This seems like an Alexander move. The comments made by Alexander after the firing only back that theory up. At this point, Morey had to fire a coach, hope that Bickerstaff can get the job done (he won't, he isn't ready) or that the Rockets can convince Thibs or Brooks to come aboard. This is far from ideal, I don't think that Morey is going to want Thibs, but I suspect Alexander will... and if they do add another head coach, they will not be able to pick their staff in the middle of the season. Right now the Rockets have the WORST coaching staff in the NBA. Years of Morey passing on elite assistants and bad luck (missing out on Carlisle and Bud [who the Rockets really wanted]) have left the Rockets with a coaching staff very short on experience.
Nook, I don't see a FIT with Thibs and dealing with Harden and Howard's (in and out resting). Thibs isn't very flexible and that is something Morey craves. Would Alexander force Morey to hire Thibs?
Thibs and Alexander ultimately wouldn't get a long, Thibs does not like to communicate with the owner. However I could see Alexander not worrying about that now and trying to push for Thibs. I highly doubt that Morey wants Thibs after the Adelman situation. Thibs wants control over trades/free agent signings like Adelman did. I cannot see Morey agreeing to give up that much power. I suppose it is possible that Morey is on the hot seat and Alexander could force Thibs on the Rockets.... but would Thibs want to come into that situation?
Now this wasn't right. At least be men enough to face the man. Morey couldn't face his boy and give him the news.
See, that's the way I see it too. I respect Thibs as a coach, but the MIX with him and Morey, I don't see that working.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IK6MsBDCUkg Someone needs to tweet this to morey and tell him to get this guy here NOW
Again....... it is was FALSE report. Shouldn't you be getting ready for your Red Lobster shift that begins at 3 pm? You don't want to be late again, the 20 year old manager warned you that you would be fired if you were late again or didn't have an ironed apron.
It probably was a text to say we have to talk in the morning..not an actual text saying he was fired..
Thibs is crazy. He is a basketball coach and nothing else. He doesn't have a family, he doesn't have a girlfriend. He doesn't have hobbies and he doesn't have time for pleasantries or small talk. He is a cyborg, all he does is sleep in his office and coach.
If Thibs gets a sit down with Alexander, he will get hired. Thibs: "See that? That is lazy defense...1, 2, 3...4,5,6... 6, yeah 6 guys out of position." Morey: "Come on! There are only 5 guys that can play defense at anytime!" Thibs: " ____ lazy, out of shape, shiftless and undisciplined... I use a bull whip to correct this problem. Also limiting calorie intake works too." Alexander: "Hmm.... yes, Daryl, you should listen to this guy, he knows what he is talking about." Thibs: "See I would beat Jones with a rod for not rotating there... you can see, easy lay up and I don't know where Harden is, looks like he is under the other basket snow birding." Morey: "I am out of here... this is just _______" Alexander: "Would you like a 4 or 5 year deal Tom? Thibs: "Call me Coach... only my dead mother called me Tom."
because it's not real. it already confirmed false. Rockets are cold-blooded when it comes to trades why would they do this when it comes to firing? they wouldn't.
WOW! After a morning of doctor appointments, I open CF to find out about Kevin's firing. I felt that working Lawson into the scheme of things would take time & be bumpy similar to the Heat's situation involving LBJ & Bosh with Wade. After the player's only meeting, I thought Les would wait for a game or so to see what materialized. Bottom line was the players weren't playing together & showed no sign of doing so. You can't fire the team, so the coach's the easiest option. The message to the players is "the ball's in your court"!
I'm preparing for a loooooong season right now because I have a feeling this isn't going to help too much.
