Doesn't matter who we want, it matters who Harden wants, hes pulling the strings. Once he gets what he wants, he better start playing like a man again and stop being a little b**ch.

you're right but it should be the goal to have continuity because that breeds success. pop has been coaching the spurs for 19 years now..

    <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">Tom Thibodeau could be a long term candidate in Houston. Ex-JVG assistant was in camp last month. Relationship w/Harden from Team USA.</p>&mdash; Chris Mannix (@ChrisMannixSI) <a href="https://twitter.com/ChrisMannixSI/status/667006201457221636">November 18, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>

Agree with Chris about "long term".

At this point I don't really care if the players "like" the new coach, but they better respect him. Thibs would bring that.

i know everyone is high on pop now, and he's indeed a great coach. but sometimes i wonder how much his success has had to do with timmy. hehe.

a unique all-time great player, a unique all-time great coach. that combo doesnt happen too often. the spurs got quite lucky.

this team does not need another players coach. things will be exactly the same if they hire someone like brooks They need someone that will hold players accountable.

Some of my friends who are hardcore Spurs fans have already sent me messages hoping and praying to the basketball gods that the rockets don't hire Thibs LOL. They know Houston would be a lock down defensive team with Thibs.

Given that Rockets legend Zan Tabak is taken. I vote for Rockets legend Chuck Hayes.

I'd be fine with Thibs as an immediate hire type guy. As in hire today. Then you get to see how it works.

It's moronic because it is only because of the GS success, system, players, Kerr, etc... but I actually would find a Luke Walton luring away interesting.

I think thibs is what we need but Morey will go with Brooks with Durant in mind... Brooks also has rocket ties that will help him edge out Thibs

My first choice is JVG, BUT I believe that Calvin Murphy would be an ideal candidate! He would be a blue collar coach with a no-nonsense approach to basketball!
I say give him a shot for the remainder of the year, if it doesn't work out then there will be more candidates to choose from in the offseason!

Okay, my body is ready! You can start the throwing punches now...

I know for sure I don't want Brooks. He's worse than McHale. Not sure if Thibbs would play DMo 48 mins or 0 mins, he didn't have a stretch 4 in Chicago as far as I remember. JVG loves DMo, so I'm all for JVG.

This coaching hire should make or break Morey's tenure with the Rockets. He had solid coaches in JVG and Adelman and then went with someone that would conform with his analytics in McHale only to fire him 11 games into the season.

Morey better think about his own career with this coaching decision. Hiring another players coach just because he may increase your odds of luring Durant is beyond stupid. If OKC does well this season, Durant could easily resign with them. If the Wizards are respectable, he may go there. Especially since it means avoiding the Warriors and Spurs in the playoffs every year(til the Finals anyway). Hell, he may even decide to not opt out and play one more year with the Thunder. He'll be eligible for more money in 2017 and he and Westbrook can decide together what their next move will be.
