I'm not familiar enough with Brooks' coaching to form an opinion on him, however, I will say this: what the team needs is the best coach it can find for the team. It's lunacy in this and nearly all situations to base your head coaching choice around the lust for one single player. These star players are not getting younger and have millions upon millions of dollars already. They want championships. Durant is going to go to a team that shows that sort of promise; he's not going to choose a team at this point just because his former coach is there. Whoever turns the Rockets around as quickly and completely as possible is going to attract players regardless of previous associations. It sounds like posters here think Thibodeau, being quite different from and much more strict than McHale, has the best chance of doing that. That means that HE will actually be both what the current team needs and ALSO what the recruiting effort needs if he lives up to expectations. Please, Morey, don't develop a complicated scheme within a scheme to lure Durant at the expense of just getting the best person for the most important job right now.
this team does not need another players coach. things will be exactly the same if they hire someone like brooks They need someone that will hold players accountable and one that teaches this team defense especially one of houston's best players
Hey guys. I have decided to apply for the coaching position. Does anyone have the contact info on who to send my resume to?
well... they have to win too. you should get a coach that gives you the best chance to win the championship. that gives you the best shot at Durant period. a 41-41 non-playoff team lead by Brooks will not look attractive to Durant. He'll just go to the Warriors then.
Experience: Helped kids at the local park make a bank shot. They made 5 bank shots in a row!!! I like basketball
I agree, and are they 100% sure that KD wants to play for Brooks again? It's a big gamble if it doesn't work out.
What's wrong with Brooks? What were/are his deficiencies as a coach. BTW, if he does indeed get hired, I'm pretty sure Harden would have been consulted for approval.
The players are irresponsible little "boys". They need a stern "father" to discipline them. Nothing else will work and that is the way to go always. Spare the rod; spoil the child.
He's an idiot. Gets obssesed with done players and overplays them. Didn't get his team ever to play team basketball. No good ingame adjustments ,xs and os, end game plays. Basically he's a less Mchale only he's possiblly a little better at development. We are not a rebuilding team so he's useless and probably even harmful.
Add to that, his love for playing Kendrick Perkins more than 2 minutes a night was also damning evidence Brooks' don't know what he's doing.
