Put me in the group that hopes they didn't do this with the intention of sticking with JB Bickerstaff for the year.
Wow...I thought this was fake! I went to espn to confirm. I'm totally shocked, but something had to be done. Losing to Denver twice, Brooklyn, Boston, and a depleted Dallas team is completely unacceptable. Losing the first 3 games by more than 20 points each was embarrassing. McHale clearly wasn't getting the job done. He may be the scapegoat of sorts and is certainly only one of many problems, but the players didn't seem to respect him anymore and his ability to lead them. Bye felicia
You think the players only meeting held speed up this process? Did the players go to Morey after the meeting?
Wow nice parallel for reference. You've always been a pretty down-to earth poster from my observations. History is not a science, but a radical change was made today and needed. A catalyst like this can bring great things.
Yep, The nice guy "players coach" was not a good match with this squad. This offense requires too much decision making for this group.
Interesting tweet/ convo from Bill Simmons about playoffs and Mchale /Harden worth a listen to so we won't be surprised if Harden's slide continues. https://twitter.com/BillSimmons/status/667008677933510656
The thing is, you can not change Howard from being a fools gold by changing coaches. Dwight will still be an overpaid inconsistent player who can't shoot freethrows and can not play back to back. ]
Finally, it happens. Now the players don't have any more excuses. Time for them to show up on court as well. More than often, head coach may not be the only reason for a slump, but if players are not responding to him, even without playing style or strategy change, simply removing the coach will do good for the team. McHale is a decent guy, but I always felt he's better suited as team manager rather than head coach. Nowadays, you have to be a very savvy detail oriented mentor and decision maker if you want to do well as a head coach in any professional sports. It's information age, and it's a players' league, the old fashioned "playing harder" no-nonsense tough guy won't cut it any more. Wish McHale all the best. After all, we did play in WCF last year.
Glad to see no mention of Brooks; I just don't believe he is a guy who can take a team all the way. Let's hope JB can turn this thing around!
Dwight is the least of our problems this year. I didn't expect actual smarts from a morey hater but do you watch the games he plays in?

Heard it on the radio on my way to work. Crazy. And he was just extended what...3 years? Well...Bye...
