i wish nothing but the best for McHale and would love if he got a job in our front office. He's an awesome guy, just not the right head coach for the Rockets.
I am only half excite because jb and finch are still here and that means...iso ball. Half measures but this made me wanna atleast watch the games again.
Even though Harden worked with and praised Thibs while with the national team? I'm not sure if this is the move they make but it would make sense. My guess is that they've already reached out to Thibs to see if he's interested and I'm betting he said yes, prompting them to make the move today. I can agree with this. I have nothing against the guy and think he's basketball royalty...but it just was no longer a good fit and it was obvious. They couldn't afford to continue to let this season slide away.
So that's why it was a player only meeting, the players decided that it was time to go. This is the type of move that brings players together. Seth Curry got Mark Jackson fired and then they won a championship. If they're saying JB is the coach that's who Dwight and James want right now
When all of these media guys say that McHale "lost the locker room", they mean that Harden and Howard lost confidence in him. It wouldn't matter if the other guys didn't like McHale.
Doesn't matter who's coach now. Can you go forward with Harden and Howard if this is the case. Coaching should be the least of a team's problems when they just made the WCF and coming into this year talking about championships. It's pretty concerning if you're the Rockets. It's one thing if the Rockets got embarrassed in the playoffs last year, then sure the players could lose belief in McHale. But you lost to a historic team in the Warriors, got better talent-wise, and you quit on your coach? Pathetic.
No it's very telling about the COACH. Good coaches have players listen to them regardless of results. Bad coaches have players tune them out regardless of results. You know what Mchale was.
I love the move and I hate the move. Coach Mchale didn't have the best X and O's but the players have to play. You can't coach effort and these guys didn't give him the effort that they gave last years. It will be interesting to see how it goes with the next coach.
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">McHale leaves as the winningest coach (by winning percentage) in franchise history. He will be paid $12 million for this season's 11 games.</p>— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/status/667002803647303680">November 18, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script> KEEP GETTING THEM CHECKS BABY!!
Makes sense. Morey believes this team is championship worthy. So we don't need a recruiter anymore, but a coach. Also McHale greatest strength was as a motivator, if he can't do that then well...
We honestly should look to hire Ettore Messina from the spurs.. hes a young coach that coached very well in europe and currently coaches the italian team.
