http://www.cbssports.com/collegefoo...houstons-tony-levine-signs-new-five-year-deal We're on the hook until Dec 31st, 2018 I think. We'll owe him the following: 2015 - $1,050,000 2016 - $1,175,000 2017 - $1,300,000 2018 - $1,425,000 Thanks, Mack!
Getting into a New Years Six bowl will help tremendously with the cost of Herman's extension. I hope the board takes care of it regardless
Does the school get the money from the bowl directly or is it split between all the schools in the conference?
Ugh, you just conjured up some bad memories! Another reason why the 2011 loss to Southern Miss sucked was that the conference missed out on a ton of cash by UH not getting a (likely) BCS bowl game. USM ends up with the Hawaii bowl and UH ends up with the Ticketcity bowl Fedora ends up signing with UNC, Sumlin signs with A&M Eventually UH leaves for the Big East/AAC and USM is still stuck with CUSA Talk about shooting yourself in the foot, sheesh
This is a great time to be a cougar sports wise. Football is relevant again. Basketball team will be better in year 2 under Sampson (should we make a bball thread?) and the baseball team is good.
At this point, what keeps Navy ahead of us? Is it that they beat Memphis more convincingly in their house? Their OOC schedule isn't really that impressive and they have a loss (albeit to a good team). Does their 'quality loss' actually give them a boost?
That's good. By the end of the season, the Cougs would have defeated at least two teams still in the top 25.
I think you are right. If the Cougs had blown the tigers out, they probably would have leap-frogged Navy. It could still work out in their favor. If UH beats Navy, the 16th ranked team, it has got to vault them into the top 12, doesn't it?
Memphis is a good football team. If you compare their resume to the other 2-loss teams, they would stack up quite well (only losses are to 2 teams ranked in their top 20, win over Ole Miss who they have ranked in their top 25). Also, Memphis being ranked is great for our resume. I hope they win out and stay ranked. Also love that Navy is ranked ahead of us. Hoping Navy climbs higher prior to their game against us. That would be great for our resume if we can continue to take care of business on the field.
They give more credit for blow-out wins but the Cougars have their share. I am a little puzzled about UNC. One quality win over a ranked opponent (23 Pitt) and one loss at SC. They have been on a tear recently but against mediocre opponents. No way they should be ahead of UH.
Why are other college teams are allowed to take away a coach from another team while they are in contract? I hope Tom Herman stays here for life. If not, I hope the NFL steal him away. I would hate to see him go to another college football team.
The committee is ridiculous, they're mostly from up north/midwest, and several of them have ties to the same schools (Notre Dame). Plus they seem to think the title of a team's conference is more important than who they actually play.
