This is the answer. Fixes both problems poor coaching and poor effort. One of maybe 5 coaches that could get Harden to at least pretend to play defense. Morey and Les need to put their egos aside and make this work.
I'm for it. Brings structure on defense as well as offense. His offensive coaching faults are overrated.
Both fat. Only one lazy <blockquote class="twitter-tweet" lang="en"><p lang="en" dir="ltr">James Harden often cited the influence of Tom Thibodeau with USA Basketball as a factor in his success last season. <a href="http://t.co/JH68yuOINL">pic.twitter.com/JH68yuOINL</a></p>— Jonathan Feigen (@Jonathan_Feigen) <a href="https://twitter.com/Jonathan_Feigen/status/650028518110195712">October 2, 2015</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
The best candidate should be coach K. He can manage Defense and Offense balance. And he is open to play fast to get more transition and 3's. Most important is he can manage Harden and other star players. But I don't think he willing to come and ROC also can't afford him. As for Tom Thibodeau he is quite good. But problem on him is he may not allow play fast and shoot so many 3. And also he is a very strictly coach, so player like Harden and TY may don't like him. But compare with others he still is the better one. He can bring things this team don't have. So if coach K unable to come Thibodeau is the best choice!
Perhaps we should experiment with a 'defensive coordinator' Thibs or JVG would be awesome at that if we would give it a shot.
Coach K has been with Duke since 1980! and has turned down 4 or 5 other NBA teams during his tenure. Is there some news about him being available suddenly?
if thibs replaces mchale at this point, i am fine with it, but wont feel thrilled. and i suspect many of our existing issues/problems can persist.
Thibs wants to implement moreyball on offense?? I see Morey having problems getting this guy to do exactly what he wants on offense (like he can do with Mchale right now).
No flipping brained I have been posting this in countless threads..... the man gets the most from what he works with....it was amazing what he did with the trash bulls roster of two years ago..... Brooks and his shooting touch is so underrated....
I don't think Thibodeau would be hired because he would demand too much control that Morey would not be willing to give up. Which is fine because I agree with Morey's overall philosophy. He'd need to find a coach whose vision aligns with his own. Thibodeau is a great coach, but he's not that guy.
As another poster mentioned earlier this is overblown. He had nothing to work with outside of Rose. He is not an offensive guru, but he could put together a competent offense with the pieces we have. The rest of the stuff he brings as far as X's and O's and defensive strategy is elite. He is one of the best coaches in the league. He just takes no bullsh!t and literally ball is life for him so he has his baggage.
Thibs is the polar opposite of McHale which is what this team desperately needs right now. The questions are even if the Rockets do sack up and fire McHale, will Morey be willing to let Thibs run the team as he sees fit and most importantly does Thibs wanna take over during the season?
no he doesn't. Thibs offense is predicated in the half court set and using as much of the 24 seconds as possible
Our offense stinks anyway with no plays and ISO Harden heavy and everyone standing around the perimeter. I can't imagine a Thibs offense being worse than the garbage McHale puts out At least with Thibs, defense will tighten up, defensive schemes will be better and there will be significant more effort, toughness and hustle for all to see. Players will be held accountable instead of a free for all do whatever you want with no repercussions Not just McHale PR speech of "play harder, play tougher, juice and darts" "clap clap"
So isn't that a problem with Morey then? Morey isn't the coach nor does he have the experience to be telling an experienced coach such as Thibs on how to run the team, who to play, what type of offense to implement, etc.
