I vote: don't trade Lawson... just give him the ball. Let him run the offense, and stop going through Harden.

this year, last season, and the season before that. lawson couldn't even find the fire to get revenge against denver on opening. is it lack of motivation really or loss of form?

undersized pg who peaked earlier in his career and closer to 30. historically, it's not good for pgs in his situation.

I think if we're going to keep McHale we gotta try Ty off the bench because Harden needs someone out there that will keep him accountable on defense and make defense a less exhausting experience.
Harden isn't going to exert a ton of energy there so it makes sense to start Bev. And we cleRly aren't going to implement a real offensive system so if Terry or Bev are out there on offense maybe James won't feel guilty about hero ball and his confidence will return.

I actually thought we looked much better with Lawson as the primary ball handler instead of Harden last night. Didn't watch the 4th quarter when Harden apparently didn't play, though.

The best part about the deal for Lawson is that we got his last year non guaranteed. He is an 11 million dollar expiring contract now. So theoretically we could trade him and brewer for a Max player by throwing in jones and some picks.

I'm on the trade Ty Lawson boat. The guy is just too short! Age maybe catching up to him, making him a bit too slow to play inside in my opinion.

When ever we play good/playoff teams with good defensive players it will either be a block fest for the opposing team or he will disappear just like Harden and we can't afford another player to disappear on us like that! Also, Ty has been shooting like crap on our team so I say let's send him to the bench and see if he can run the offense there. If not we should cut our loses, trade him and move on.

When he got here I was thinking Aaron Brooks 2009 PlayOffs 2.0. It just isn't the case anymore.

they sure did. Boston was down 15+ when lawson was the primary ball handler. when he went to the bench that's when it all went downhill

That's exactly what I said to my dad last night. I remember him as a blur, like Aaron Brooks used to be for us. I haven't seen that guy play for us this year. I think it's time to bring him off the bench and see if he's more comfortable in that role.

The problem is, he has been on the floor, when Harden is on the bench.

As long as Harden is going to handle the ball and do his iso stuff, that is only going to take us so far. My opinion is we saw how far that will take us last season. And, he's just not consistent enough like a Curry is to make it work day in and day out. And, Curry doesn't even control the ball. He plays in the flow of team ball where the ball moves. And, he's a better shooter than Harden.

I thought the whole point of getting Lawson was so he could run point on the offense and take the pressure off of Harden? The issue is Harden is not the type of player to play without handling the ball. What's he going to do...come off screens and knock them down? No. Is he going to cut to the basket and have the ball thrown into him? No. I've seen a lot of plays and Lawson is just basically standing around the perimeter while Harden controls the ball. Is that why we brought Lawson here...to hang out on the perimeter and hope he gets a pass?

The Rockets are all about Harden at the moment. Whatever he does dictates the entire outcome of the game almost every night. With that type of offense, the Rockets stink if Harden has an off night. And, he's had quite a few ugly games already this season.

But, the flip side is defense creates offense. And, the defense is just terrible most of the time. They give up a lot of wide open 3s with...what...a "hope they miss" mentality? Most of the time...they individually can't even stay with their man. And, obviously, communication is non-existent and they aren't working together. You still have to be able to shoot the ball and there is just a plethora of missed shots that are sinking this team along with all the turnovers and lack of defense. This is a nightmare scenario. It cannot get any worse.

I'm as lost as the team looks on what we are trying to do out there on both ends of the floor. I believe this team would collectively play a lot better with Harden on the bench because at least they are all involved then and are not spectating offensively waiting to see what Harden does. But, it may not improve the end result but the ball would move better and create more opportunities imo.

Trade him for what? 5 cents on the dollar? Give up a draft pick like Lin so somebody will pay him?

Lawson has been bad but it's because we are asking him to play a role that he is simply not suited for. The whole point was to get Harden starting to play off the ball. Instead, we get 13-14 Harden iso ball, and it's been a tire fire.

Lawson has not been effective. But trading him isn't the answer. He's insanely talented but needs direction.
