The whole "heels/villians getting cheers" thing was started during the ECW era in the 1990s. Raven, Shane Douglas, and The Dudley Boys were some examples from it. Here are some clips. Easily. I'm sure they'll give him a short run in NXT first though. He should be NXT champ after Joe, if Balor Club is starting
I love Styles and all but I have a feeling he has a ceiling on him... He is already 38 so I doubt WWE is going to ever invest enough in him for him to break out. I see an NXT championship run and maybe a 2-3 year rum as a mid-carder on the main roster but not much more.
I don't think they'll turn Reigns heel, they've had too much invested in trying to make him over that they shouldn't want to risk losing those that have bought in already (like why they never turn Cena heel). I sadly don't think they'll do it to Ambrose either because it would put him at risk of being more over than Reigns. I think the divas division is a good example of this; Charlotte is an okay face champ, but Paige as a heel is getting more heat and even gets cheers still. To be fair the divas division has always been confusing (Bellas getting cheered vs team BAD but booed vs Submission Sorority).
Why is Kalisto in the tourney? They should give an NXT guy in there and have him make it to the semi finals. Give him two wins, and a good outing at Survivor Series.
WWE Live is coming to Houston on 1/8 and they have Brock Lesnar advertised as one of the Included Superstars! If he's wrestling, I'm there. Anyone else going?
Kalisto is an NXT guy, they just haven't pushed him yet. They want him to be the next Rey Mysterio. kids love him and buy dem masks, and the adults enjoy his high flying antics. Plus they really want a Latin star, they even brought back that snoozer Del Rio. That's what they are hoping to accomplish with Kalisto anyhow. Unfortunately they have booked him like crap. Sin Cara is damaged goods even with a new wrestler under the mask, teaming them didn't do anything for Kallisto, it simply held him back. Plus he hasn't done anything of note before the Ryback win, which was spoiled on Smackdown. He could be a moneymaker and a fun performer if the build him right, but they haven't built anybody right in years. They have to follow through and give him a singles storyline so people will start connecting.
Owens, Reigns, Ambrose Kalisto won a match because tournaments need upsets and Del Rio/Kalisto was way better than what Del Rio/Ryback would have been. All four of those matches were really great.
i work in the box office at TC so i might get first dibs on tickets. :grin: this is coming from a guy who dont go to house shows. lesnar being advertised might change that for me.
Maybe they could turn this house show into a network special just like the one they had for the New York's Madison Square Garden event.
