Al Qaeda in Iraq which gave birth to ISIS was long before Obama's time.

Please for the love of god - educate yourself before you post. Please. I mean really. Your ignorance is just annoying now.

Sadly, I see fascist/scary tendencies in mc mark's posts. mc mark strikes me as the type of socialist who, if he could, would absolutely violently silence opposing opinions. Like it used to happen in Russia.

    So much vile anger.

People want to "objectively" (ha!) assess the root causes of this mess and so it somehow lies on... Obama? Do we know the definition of the term "root cause?"

It is very interesting that the other thread on the Paris tragedy has been removed for some reason.

To recap. I said that we can just hope that the horrible horrible tragedy in Paris will not be made much worse by the type of stupid overreaction of our country that led to vastly greater evil and death than 911 itself. We saw our leaders manipulate and lie us into to the great blunder of invading Iraq killing hundreds of thousand of Iraqis and leading to the creation of ISIS,.

ATW said we should learn from how Israel model of how to handle these terror incidents. I said are you kidding. We should have all of Europe and the United States with check points everywhere and tens of millions of new security guards constantly checking people. We should deny entry to anyone who has grandparents or grandparents from the Middle East or anyone who has travelled there. We should have compulsory military service for both men and women till the age of 50 with required reserve requirements.

The Germans I worked with were more fervent against enhanced police powers than people in the U.S.

They could be "p***y leftists", and I desperately hope their ideals will not be tested in the future.

A badly miscalculated mistake. This thread title only deserves to die if we want to have anything approaching rational discourse. I guess we don't. No wonder I swore off the forum. Y'all have fun. Make sure you get angry and dehumanize one another. OP style. Otherwise you're doing it wrong.

I hear ya. I come read this just to see how ridiculous people can be and just end up baffled about some of these posts. It's like a train wreck that I can't look away from. I guess that's pretty much what this forum is for the most part.

Codman - To be brutally honest with you, the content in your posts is terrible. It's just not on topic, but rather long winded personal attacks at me. I can't even remember the last time you addressed content. You come into a thread and put up a wall of text containing personal insults at me.

Just to stay on the brutally honest theme, I think a few things cause this:
    1) I believe you said you're a high school teacher. The problem with that is that you're not exposed to mature thinkers in your daily life. You're surrounded by students who aren't intelligent or mature enough to debate complex topics. This also probably makes you feel smarter than you really are as they probably don't pose much of an intellectual challenge.

    2) You're duped into thinking the liberal pile-on crew around here is correct because there are so many of them. The demographics of this forum skew way left and are in no way representative of society as a whole. Remember this is a basketball forum - basketball fans skew young and minority.

    3) I believe there is an emotional bias element at play for you, also. If memory serves, you, just like Obama, are bi-racial. You likely want Obama to succeed as the first bi-racial president we've ever had, to the point that you cannot accept criticism of him.

between reading people's musings on the topics of the day here. while in combination with people that i have interacted with serving and bartender work over the years.

while i currently go to UT in austin and will get a "real" one day i suppose. the sheer stupidity of certain people i have met from the line of work i have done over the years is interesting and won't be forgotten haa.

To be fair, bigpuffery's monolithic tunnel vision and hatred is directed at all Democrats, not just Obama.

No, the blunder was going to Iraq in the first place, the resulting chaos and civil war are what helped to create ISIS. There are consequences for disbanding an army and then omitting them from the process of rebuilding the government.

You do realize the region became unstable the moment we invaded Iraq, right?

Advice both you and bigpuffery should take.

Stop whining about Obama, he isn't going to run again.
